I don't think the Leafs want any part of Petry. He's an old man by NHL standards and isn't likely to recover to the kind of form you are paying for.

Not even. If the best we can do is to trade Petry with 50% retained, we're better off buying him out. Highly doubt it comes to that, but 50% retention is at the very bottom of the list of options.

Jones doesn't help the Leafs this season, Braun is not better than Holl, so Giroux is the only piece that might be acceptable.

So basically a bunch of **** and 25-32 OA for our best player with half retained, and probably our most reliable defender? yeah, that's a huge no. we'd get more elsewhere easily with that retained money alone.
