No way the jets trade scheifele, and especially for that. Quality > Quantity

And I’d be surprised to get that many picks from Boston. That’s a lot of picks to move all at once. Plus it’s a little too much coming back imo

Finally, Schmidt has a 10 team no trade list. I think it’s a safe bet to say Ottawa is on there.

If the Oilers make the Cup finals and Keith is top 4 in TOI among Oiler d-men, Edmonton sends Chicago it's 2022 2nd round pick instead of it 2022 3rd round pick.

We can probably agree it's highly unlikely that condition will be triggered; but until it is certain that the Oilers won't trigger it, Chicago has dibs on Edmonton's 2022 2nd round pick. The Jets can't have it at the TDL. I'm not convinced the Oilers would give up for Stanley anyway.

No, not at all. Maybe if the bruins had a really good idea that they could extend copp, a first for the two of them. Maybe.

They added this thinking that they were a cup contender. Jones, a conditional 3rd and taking on Keith's full salary is a worse trade than Reinhart for a 1st and a 2nd

If the jets were to sell at the deadline, Copp is this years Blake Coleman. Coleman got a first and a solid prospect (Nolan Foote)

Word. Copp has two years left at 1.8M? There must be some misprints on his capfriendly page.

Damn saying 1 player should get a 1st automatically means every player on the jets are just gold! You obviously don’t watch any jets games but someone who can do a little bit of everything and do it well easily gets a 1st… has nothing to do with a fantasy land use your head

I know that Coleman and Goodrow each had another year on their deal, however Copp is a centre and he is a better player than those 2.

Is he really a center though? Goodrow had played plenty of center too. The reason the bolts went after both, and paid up for each of them was that they filled a need, at a cap hit far below their worth, for multiple years. Copp checks none of those boxes.

Copp is a centre. He has taken 9 more face-offs then Mark Schiefele this year with a FO% of 55.2%

Theres more to playing center than face offs, and the other points hold true.

Griffin Reinhart hurt in the long term, but Keith hurts both in the long term and short term.

Plus he had all the leverage in the world and gave up WAY too much.

Keith has been okay, but definitely hasn't played to his salary level. If he retires this summer the Oilers will get a salary cap boost. If he plays out his contract, then he hurts insofar as he's paid more than he is able to bring on the ice. IMO he hurts a bit this year, and potentially quite a bit next year. In contrast, the only value Reinhart brought the Oilers was as expansion draft fodder. That cost them a shot at some seriously good talent in a pretty deep draft class. I say that hurts more.

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that Keith has been playing better than I anticipated, didn't have a great game last night though. However, giving up a third (thinking it would have been a second) and Caleb Jones (who's been solid this year) is giving up way too much.
