If Girard was this easy to trade for it would have happened already. The Avs could have easily had their nose in on Hoffman the many times he was up for trade and UFA in the past.

Hoffman doesn't really have any value. otherwise teams would have been lining up for him outside his door when he was a free agent. A Drouin for Girard is more likely to happen, but Drouins value is pretty low atm compared to Girard so there would have to be add ons

i get that but past and present are diffrent. With byrams good play and the lenght and price of sam contract the avs are looking for more scoring and sam was made expendable. If im off im off i understand that but i thinks its closer than you might think

if montreal blows it up girard is what they are looking for on the back end, avs get the scoring they need the depth at d at a better cost

Drouin's value is essentially negative, but everyone but habs fans will admit it.

I could see something in the realm of Toffoli and Romanov working. Really I don't think MTL has anything that interests the Avs that much.

I think drouin has value, but in the eyes of the league i would put him as depth neutral ( get possibly a mid-late third for him if a team is looking to add some scoring at deadline) but habs would never accept that so we are stuck with him. We need him to build his value if we want to get anything of value for him in the next year or let him ride out the contract and let him walk.

Drouin, Chiarot and Lehkonen, with enough retention to balance the cap, is probably a better return for what Colorado needs. That's some significant reinforcement for any team going into the playoffs.
