Last season Hertl was the better faceoff guy so I’d make him the C on that line of those stats are still accurate

Thats a horrible deal for the sharks. Not only do we not get a top prospect, but we take on a multi year cap dump for free

The value here is a two 1st (Olausson & Barron) and a 2nd round pick. This is an overpayments if Hertl doesn’t come with an extension. Remove Barron if this is a rental

I think this is pretty fair. As a sharks fan, I would take this and be happy with it. Not a huge fan of Compher but I like the prospects.

I wouldn't even want the Avs to trade those two for Hertl..

Just out of curiosity, what would you describe as a "top prospect"? This deal gives you two recent first round picks that should play in the upper half of an NHL lineup. What other team that could reasonably be in the market for Hertl will offer up someone significantly better than either of those guys? Colorado in all likelihood won't deal Newhook, Boston has a thin pool, Florida probably isn't offering up Lundell, Calgary doesn't have anyone leaps and bounds ahead of these guys (unless you're a big Coronato fan), etc. Getting Krebs from Vegas seems like the best guy you could potentially get in a deal.

Olausson and Barron are top prospects in the avs system, they arent newhook but they arent bums either . Olausson is tearing up the OHL, I would hate giving up those guys for a rental, over payment for a rental

Sure in 8 games he has 8 points. Last year he had 18 in almost 50. He isn’t necessarily a cap dump but 8 games is a very small sample size, less than 10% of the season.

Eh, a 30 point guy for 3.5 million isn't the worst thing; he can produce with minutes and that'll get someone to take him off your hands next year.

Sharks need to make the most of the Hertl return, so getting middle six forwards or bottom 4 D prospects back isnt appealing. We need someone with real potential to play a lot of time and score points.

You are belittling every player in this proposal, you can say you don’t liken it bc you feel he’s worth more that’s your opinion but to call those prospects bottom 4 and middle 6 while saying compher has negative value bc he needs a pick attached is just Being over that too negative in an effort to make it seem like your point is stronger

Because thats my evaluation. I like Barron but hes not a top pairing D candidate from everything ive seen and heard, I dont know Olafsson well but I have never heard anyone other than Avs fans tell me he has major potential. Compher is negative, he would hurt the sharks cap situation for a player that isnt very good.

I dont like the deal so Im not interested. If the Avs asked me personally for Hertl I would say "only if Newhook is on the table".

He’s a .4 ppg over the past like 6 seasons so not awful but not great. He’s never had a season over 35 points…

Compher tops out as a 3rd line guy, it is what it is.

I like Barron and would like him on the Sharks myself. I made an acgm where the sharks trade Hertl with half retention to Col for Barron, Bowers (fits the sharks needs better than Olaufson), a late 2nd and Helm to make the cap work. What do you think about that?
