With Blandisi and Veilleux gone, Poehling likely in the NHL, and Ylönen missing a third of the season, he’s definitely going to have a lot of opportunity to be a top player on this team.

Interesting you have Poehling with Habs. That means he had a good camp and took a roster spot. In the 2nd half last season I thought Poehling was Laval's best player.

I don’t think it’ll be that hard for him to beat out Paquette. He definitely excelled in the AHL last year, and there isn’t much more that he can accomplish at that level.

I would say swap Dauphin with Hillis and Ouellet with Brook and you are set. Hoping that Yelonen decides to get vaccinated before the season gets to far along.

Yeah I can’t see Hillis ending up that high in the lineup. I was on the fence about sending him to Trois-Rivières or not, but I thought AHL 4C would be better than ECHL 1C, since he projects as a bottom-6 NHL player at best.

Also I’m hoping that Ylönen is the player who can’t get the vaccine because of medical conditions, because if someone in his position still hasn’t decided to get the vaccine yet, I don’t think anyone is changing their mind. I hope that whoever it is that chose not to get the vaccine for no good reason isn’t anyone important.

A buddy of mine that works for RDS, wants to see Hoffman-Poehling-Anderson on same line. We will see. I'm looking forward to a good season.

I’m not sure that Anderson and Hoffman would work well together on a line, but I definitely wouldn’t be surprised to see Poehling playing in the top 9 with 2 of Drouin/Hoffman/Toffoli/Anderson/Gallagher.

But even if he doesn’t get that high in the lineup, Lehkonen - Poehling - Armia sounds like a dream 4th line.

It might just be me, but I really like Louis Belpedio: he could surprise, as he never really got a fair shot in Minnesota.

Thinking out loud: I wonder what will happen with Ylönen, now that it's come out that he does not want to be vaccinated. We obviously do not know the reasons for it, but it's going to affect his season...

As a coach you want options and this team has good options. In 1999, I had a very good team with a lot of options, Teams could not cover us, I would switch tactics mid game. Then in 2007, I wasn't happy with the team and I did not get along with the GM. So we became very easy to match up against and got knocked out early. So, I really like this team. My only concern, is Habs have only Petry as a true offensive threat from the backend. Teams know this and will again focus on him. Even more so with Weber out. I really like Norlinder but he needs another year before making the jump.

So much can happen in a season, injuries, dressing room chemistry, streaks at right time. This team can miss the playoff's by a few points but can also go deep again.

I'm looking forward to seeing Belpedio, he is probably the player I know the least in MTL/Laval, as I watch all the games from both teams.

Looks like they finally decided to build a team that could be good. Only 7/24 prospects though. For the AHL contracts, he'll probably be in Trois-Rivières but Shawn St. Amant is also under contract.

Yeah, I forgot St. Amant, thanks for pointing that out.

I think the habs have a good strategy, putting prospects in the places where they need to be to develop as well as possible, and fill out the rest of the lineup with good players.

Having Trois-Rivières really helps too, where they can give ice time to guys like Desruisseaux, Ducharme, and Khisamutdinov, as well as giving opportunities to youngish guys like Abbandonato and Gignac.
