Why would Edmonton want to downgrade from Koskinen to Korpisalo? Let alone adding a pick and prospect.

I never said this would be a trade package for Korpi, just that he's the CBJ goalie available.



He and the team have already indicated mutual interest in an extension. I imagine something gets announced after Korpi is traded, or at the end of the season. Plus this package is OK - a net-negative cap dump with Koskinen, and an otherwise unremarkable goalie prospect we don't need. The 1st is nice, of course.

And maybe not elite at the moment, but I think most people (and particularly those in the CBJ orbit) are bullish on his potential. Even if he doesn't necessarily pan out, they'd like him as a safe option for a few years while Tarasov breaks into the NHL.
