Poolman played above his pay grade in Winnipeg so don’t look into analytics too much. When he was playing on the 3rd pair, he was a dominant force at times. He’s solid in the 3 rd spot

People forget that Poolman was used next to Morrissey which was a disasterous pairing. Although I saw poolman as more of a 2x2 type, I see some similarities to Jensen of WSH in this contract. It's not like he's the only defenseman overpaid this market. Seems to just be the market for these depth D. (i'd rather this than forbort/ceci)
Yes. This off-season. He also did a lot of work to fix past mistakes.
By the way, the reason he still has a job and Trevor Linden doesn't, is that Benning did what the owners want, while Linden wanted a slower build. Now, I agreed with Linden on this point, but you can't blame Benning for doing what his boss tells him to do.
