On our Left side, we have Dahlin & Owen Power locked into the top2 pairs
Not giving up a 2nd & 4th to play Muzzin on the 3rd pair
That’s just hideous
Plus we have young LH talent in Samuelsson & Bryson who look good with us right now
LH defense is the deepest position on our roster
Also,
you’re not getting that return for Muzzin from anyone
Good luck</div></div>
Err.. Muzzin is real good, it took a first to get him.
This looks like a neat challenge, being on the site is enough added stress already though haha

Agreed, the other option is to not move him which is likely the direction right now. We can buy him out in a year or two

Yeah I agree with you. What I mean is if I'm Buffalo I don't want this unless I'm struggling to get to the cap floor, which I don't think you will be. As in, you probably don't want this deal.

You make this deal to get to the cap floor if you still need to. From a Van perspective, PLEASE YES. New regime likely hesitant to deal futures at the moment, however.

Trade Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juggin_Pav</b></div><div>I agree with halak but at half retained they would consider it
What do you think we can get for motte
and what would need to be added to wennberg trade</div></div>
At the end of the day Motte is a 4th liner on a contender. Getting a single 3rd round pick for him, if we can't sign him to <$2 mil, would be a huge win imo.
Wennberg is really tricky, given the term he has left. I would lean towards saying dealing him at this juncture doesn't make sense for Seattle.
Twist my arm I'd say like either a 2nd rounder or a B-level prospect like Jet Woo or Aidan McDonough. You can claim a player like Bowey on waivers so I don't think he'd have any value at all.

Interesting ideas
I don't think Toronto would want Halak. As much as I like Motte, I think that's a bit much for him too.
I think with the term Wennberg has it would cost some kind of actually valuable asset to get him, especially with retention

I'm not even sure he should play in the NHL next year given the WJC performance. He did not look anything close to NHL ready.</div></div>
Which leads to an interesting discussion about the merits of the CHL. He definitely shouldn't return to junior IMO. It would be a great option if he could play in the AHL if he looks like he needs it.

Yeah Shane Wright also is likely not going to be able to step in and be a #1 centre straight away. IMO he'll have a closer year 1 impact to Jack Hughes or Alexis Lafreniere which is to say not much. Would love to be wrong. Just don't see the speed there right now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>I don't think we should sell off to this degree. Miller should be our one big move with maybe something minor like Halak. Otherwise keep everyone else and give them an opportunity to build on what they've done in Vancouver with a new coach and a fresh season with a different outlook.
I don't think we should trade Boeser at all. Goal scorers are hard to find, he's tight with our core and he's been one of our better forwards the last two years. I know the contract starting at 7.5M is concerning for a lot of people but that is the going rate for players of his caliber. We're not going to find better use for that money and if we move him we won't be able to replace him for a long time. His wrist is finally holding up and he's gotten past some rough stretches in his personal life, I think we should commit to keeping him here with his friends and allowing him to grow as an original member of our core.</div></div>
The concerns that he's gotten over that you mention are exactly why I'm concerned. He is seemingly in the best spit health wise and mentally of his career and this has been one of if not his worst years of performances. I totally get your sentiment and last year he looked back to his rookie self but I just don't know anymore. He's turned from a sure 40 goal scorer into a huge risk with defensive liability and I don't know what to do with him anymore. In my mind Tomasino and Svechkov are really great prospects not to mention that's a huge chunk of cap to commit to a less risky asset

Yeah fair enough. I made the comment since you had him as your 3C. It looks like he hasn't been playing regularly for LA who are not as strong as the Rangers. I'm being overly pedantic though

I don't think that you're getting enough for Boeser and I doubt that he signs a deal for only $6 million (which is what I think that you're saying).
The other deals look entirely reasonable, although I don't think that NY will be trading Schneider. He could be a Calder Trophy nominee next season.</div></div>
Fair enough on both counts. Fyodor and Tomasino are both 1st round prospects, so it's asking a lot I thought! Boeser has had such a down year and for no apparent reason. He's playing at like a $3.5 million value right now. I think he's better than that but man, I worry about him. His foot speed is also not great, and from what I've heard Rutherford wants to get a lot faster

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fotiu4U</b></div><div>I don't expect the Rangers to win a cup this year since they have been rebuilding for years now, so I would not sacrifice young players like Schneider who are the future to try to win a few more playoff games. 99% of Ranger fans would have said prior to the season that just making the playoffs would be a success, so I see no reason to increase that expectation now. I am fine with them being buyers at the TDL, but not if that means sacrificing what looks to be a very bright future. Schneider, Laffy, Kakko, Shesty and Miller are simply not available. Nils Lundqvist and Zac Jones are though, along with Kravstov and the 1st round pick, so there are pieces they can move to improve the top 6. If Vancouver can live with Lundqvist, Kravstov and 1st round pick, then they can get younger and better IMO, but if they are stuck on Schneider, then there is no trade to be made. Rangers can go after Smith in Vegas or Kessel or Tofoli to help their top 6 and keep all their top prospects.</div></div>
OK now non sarcastically thank you for the input, I agree with you 100%. If I were a Rangers fan I think I'd be completely in line with your thinking. I think the conversation changed more when Schneider stepped in to replace Fox and looks an absolute stud already. The only issues with your proposal for me are #1 Kravtsov, just, Kravtsov being an issue himself. #2 we have OEL, Hughes, Rathbone already so to add Lundqvist is a bit redundant. Let's say Chytil, Lundqvist and a first? I personally do like Nils alot (maybe more than Schneider as a matter of personal taste). We also need warm bodies on the team if we trade Miller.

And he probably better as well (but it's hard to gauge just how good Eichel is because of injuries and, well, the fact he played in Buffalo).</div></div>
Eichel's value is so strange to gauge. He's also a $10 million contract. Miller has been way outperforming his $5.25 million or whatever it is. I also think people underrate just how good Krebs and Tuch are. Neither Topi nor Rodion have shown anything on North American ice, although I do like both. Krebs and Tuch are both studs and have shown it in the NHL/AHL.

I feel like as Canucks it would be preferable to get Knies and a first, although I like Rodion and Topi. Just to get a player who plays JT Miller's position. That's a strong team. Not sure I'd want my team to move so much stuff for Severson, he has not been playing great this year. If he continues his poorer run of form you're looking at a Nick Foligno type deadline acquisition

Aside from the value though, those are smart moves. Get your centre depth and Reilly Smith seems like he'll be on the move anyway. Turcotte hasn't really shown that he's ready to hunker down a centre spot for a deep playoff push yet though has he?

Save Money Address Age Gap Get Better
The ideas are all really sound. Getting the cap down and getting young talented pieces should be the goal. You're just a bit off on all the value of the players in the Canucks favor in my view (am Canucks fan). Except the NJD deal I think is ok? They aren't far off. I just think with Garland you might get Lysell only. With NYR you can argue Miller for a 1st and Schneider (especially with that retention), but then there's no way Schenn and Motte are worth Kaapo Kakko. Rathbone for Soucy is big brain.
