Well this is all blown up with the Buyout News!

So pretty surprised by the statement in Russo's article that said that, "One other option that is complicated? Find a team that’s willing to acquire Parise, trade a significant asset to take him and then have that team buy him out. Parise gets to start fresh elsewhere as a free agent and the Wild at least get out of his $7.538 million cap hit. However, a league source said that would not get the Wild out of potential cap recapture penalties if he retires before the end of 2024-25. The cap recapture would be applicable in the context of any trade for any reason, the source said." So I don't see any reason to trade Parise to another team with hopes of him being bought out. Best case scenario is the Wild get another year or two out of him in a bottom six role and maybe find a way to get him on LTIR for the last two seasons?

Traded Dumba since that really needs to happen to free up cap and not lose him for nothing

Hope the Wild can pay Seattle with Rask + picks but we'll see.

Nope I did that on purpose. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of Boldy, Rossi, Addison make the team out of camp, but filled out the team without them if they don't.

Haha you think that scares us, but we just watched Rask man the 1C spot for this entire year, so it’s all uphill from here baby. Kidding of course. Idea here is that Zacha fills the gap until Rossi is ready. I’m sure there would be experimenting with him and Ek rotating in that spot.

I thought he might have the most upside to fit between KK/Zucc. I like EEK's line and didn't want to split them up and didn't think Wennberg/Sturm fit better with KK/Zucc, but lines do always get juggled.

Agreed I don’t think it’s wise to roll into the season assuming rookies will be ready. It’s a bonus if they seem capable, but you def want some depth to backfill.

From what I gather, Zacha has been playing more wing than C. Also, I don’t mind the logic of Zacha for Dumba but I think 1 for 1 is more than fair, I have no interest in adding to move Dumba.

That would be hammered by the league so fast. Also, NJD would not want 7 mil in dead cap 3 and 4 years from now.

Just re: Parise-I'm glad someone finally wrote about it. I assumed that there would be some degree of "Cap circumvention" involved for some of these "Send Weber/Parise to ______ and have them buy him out" deals. It's rare that players end up being the ones who hold all the chips, but man...if he were to retire after you moved him (Similar to Weber)...

If anything it adds more value to Dumba. Before the buyout teams knew we were likely going to lose him. Now that we won’t lose him we could get mor for him if we decide to trade him.
