Three firsts, a top 3 defenseman (worth an additional 1st at least), and two B-B+ prospects definitely exceeds the four 1sts threshold that Buffalo was asking for.

No need for dumba, especially before an expansion draft. And way to leave out we just tossed you your 2C as well in mittelstadt. None of the picks are high either.

Do you think a team giving up a ton of value for Eichel is going to be a rebuilding team with a bunch of high picks?

You may end up getting a higher quality piece back than what's here, but you're not going to get nearly this type of quantity.

And you keep ignoring that they added mittelstadt.

There is little quality in this trade, only quantity.

I'm not ignoring it, that's why you're getting roughly the equivalent of four 1sts and three B-B+ prospects. That's a massive overpayment of Eichel alone. That accounts for including Mittlestadt.

Just out of my own curiousness, are we ignoring the fact that mittlestadt played more than half of last year in the minors and also was scratched about 10 games this year? Might be time for a change of scenery, and his trade value isn't great.

Trading for dumba could mean losing someone we like to seattle. Trading for a defensemen 3 years older than eichel on a rebuild is dumb. Late picks equal lower value. No top prospects. It's a bad trade. A reasonable Minnesota trade for eichel starts with atleast boldy, a 1st and other stuff

Based off what I have heard lately, Minnesota might be one of the only teams that is willing to pay up to Buffalo anywhere near what they are asking after teams are watching Montreal who stayed true to their rebuild and prospect pool

He averaged .5 ppg and excelled under the interm coach who they just hired full time. He's 22 years old on the upswing and likely isn't available in a trade

Even if this trade happens, Mittelstadt isn't a better option at 2C than E-EK

I think MIN could get Eichel but I don't see them getting away with it without at least one of Rossi or Boldy. 2021 draft is trash and Buf can't scout for beans. I know its not the worst offer ever but its likely not quite right. You need at least one piece of quality and even though the quantity is there BUF likely needs something more surefire

233rd in the league in points last year. He's about the upside, not what he has produced.

A week or two ago, I would have 100% agreed, and yes I did do it without one of those 2 for a little controversy, but now that Anaheim, Chicago, New York and LA are reportedly out on him, its becoming less of a sweepstakes at their asking price.

No, I think its absolutely way too much and this will inevitably send us into Cap Hell and will just cause problems, If you want both I would say then its ok to throw in Marco Rossi and Matthew Boldy and send them to Buffalo, I see this as a team that would be all in on winning a cup and i do not think the Wild are there yet, I am 50-50 on an Eichel Trade (like if we get him im fine with it but if we didnt I wouldnt care either), What the Wild should do is focus on building for the future instead of an all in run that will possibly end up no where and ruin the future

I dont mind that take at all, definitely would be hard to sign kaprizov long term if you go "Yeah we could have gotten a franchise center for you, but Marco Rossi who is recovering from COVID could be a number 1 center" Don't get me wrong, I love both Rossi and Boldy and think they are imperative to the Wild's future, but to sign kaprizov more than 4, they will need to aquire a center

Why would that be the case? Out of their top 4 defensemen, the best +- was -11, I think they could use a defensemen who is above neutral

Ive seen alot of flyers 3 way trades, which I think could definitely work, or get dumba out before expansion to players they dont need to protect then move for eichel prior to the ED

That’s why he’s going to be a Sabre for a while. Plus Granato speaks highly of him.

The Sabres have a ton of D prospects, theyre probably drafting Power and possibly Hughes if they get another pick and Eklund is gone, their young dmen played much better under Granato (with ECHL goalies in net), basing a trade decision on solely the +/- of last seasons Dmen, that were rookies or leaving/left, is extremely short sighted and ignores a million factors. The Sabres arent moving Eichel for Dmen, especial ones that are older when theyre rebuilding. Are you going to move Kaprisov for Hedman plus a handful of firsts? Doesnt make any sense right?
