Habs blow it up

Description
Okay yes I know they just made the Finals. Realty is, this team isn't good enough yet to make the Playoffs in the Atlantic. And with the 2022 and 2023 drafts bring so deep and stacked, why not do a total blow up on our vets and in 3-4 years time when Suzuki, Caufield, KK are reaching their prime. The team will be deeper and full of young talents like the early 2010s Blackhawks. Just hopefully a lot less assault involved

All these deals are pretty reasonable if they would indeed blow it up. None will happen cause this GM almost certainly will double down on their playoffs performance. Expect Drouin to be moved instead (Seattle) and he'll somehow overpay for scoring help.

Edit. Oh I missed the Halak signing. Hilarious

If some of these trades were possible, it might be worth it, but there's almost no chance they can move Weber or Price's contracts. And in Price's case, the insane recapture penalty they'd face if he retires before he's 38 means they probably shouldn't even try.

They most likely will be a bubble team next season, but if KK can continue to develop to the point where he can be a true 2C and Berge can get him a better offensive winger than Byron, they have a good chance of making the playoffs. Price will be a huge question of course, but that's what Allen (or his replacement if he's taken) is for.

Add a PMD that can be a threat on the PP and this is a solid team.

Been hoping for years that mtl would do a full rebuild and with the flat cap and covid (less revenu from games) it would be a good time. But marc wants to win with price and hes going to do everything he can to give him the best chance to win a cup. And making it to the finals seems like we wont see a rebuild for a while

Anderson would be a nice add but I believe Holland passes on this trade in its current form, Kulak is of no interest to the Oilers we have plenty of options in house as a 3rd LD, moving Bear means we need to find a top 4 RD which are hard to find our need for a second pair LD is much easier to acquire and next yrs first isn’t available as it’s a stud draft class and this yrs first is only available if the Alberta kid Cossa is off the board when the oilers draft at 19

Why in the world would COL add a $10M+, 30yr old + contract at any position whilst subtracting a 23yr old top pairing dman on team friendly contract for the next 6 yrs. Answer, they wouldn’t. Ridiculous

Because they need an elite goalie and they have a surplus of LHD. After the last playoffs, Girard is seen as expendable. Also the Avs end up saving 1 million from this with Johnson coming the other way. Even more can be saved if the Habs were to retain

Kulak is a top 4 defencemen who doesnt get any love by our coaches because he isnt 6'3 and 230 pounds. He also can play the right side. Anderson and Mcdavid combo would be so fun to see as well

How? Petry is easily worth a teams top prospect and taking on that Eriksson deal will cost so much in the flat cap era. Canucks use Petry to replace Schmidt and use that money saved from a Schmidt trade to resign Petersson

Weber's contract can easily be moved to any team as his actual salary is pretty low after this season nd his playoff performance has raised everyone's value. Also for Price, he wont ever retire until his contract is done. He wont be leaving 7.5 million per year just on the table, hed just go on LTIR until the end of it

Maybe if Petry was 22 years old and still was the same Petry as he is right now.

But as it stands, its a horrible trade for vancouver and will never happen

They don’t need an elite goal tender, especially one that is the wrong side of 30 and makes $10.5M. He is the first player EVER with $10M+ contract to get out of the 1st rd and the amount of big contracts coming for the Avs he would be a massive anchor salary cap wise. Easy pass for the Avs.

The coaching staff in Edmonton doesn’t like playing guys on their off side and the NHL is moving away from that, Kulak doesn’t fit into out top 4 on either side
