Love Konecny and watched a ton of him with the 67’s but it would cost more than two late 1sts in a draft that isn’t deep to make up the difference.

I think the emphasis of this offseason for the Flames will be trying to build a heavy team that Sutter wants.

I know everyone is saying that Gaudreau should stay around. I wanted to trade him every season since the 99 points and he’s still here. And every year while I watch the playoffs, I am more convinced he’s not the right guy for his role in CGY.

Sure, do right by asset management. But PHI is looking to make a big change or two. And Gaudreau is better than Konecny. So I think both teams benefit from this deal.

Matching an offer sheet for $9.5M AAV on Tkachuk. Melnyk would absolutely force Dorion to take the compensation. And this package above far exceeds 2x 1sts, a 2nd, and a 3rd.

I’m struggling as a Flames fan with what is optimal. If Treliving stays (and he probably is), there’s no way he’s rebuilding. But if I’m Tkachuk and I hold all the cards on contract extension vs UFA next year….man oh man, I would definitely go check the market next summer and probably end up signing somewhere else unless Treliving gets it really right this year and builds an actual playoff team.

I think they are capable of building a team with both. They wont be rebuilding, that has been made very clear with the Sutter and now Muller signings. If Gaudreau is willing to sign an extension for 8.5M this summer then you 100% keep him
