St. Louis will also have teams that make a better offer than a 2nd for him. Look at some of the other AGMs and teams are sending a 1 & a 3. Dunn is gonna move but the market will be a good one for Armstrong

      I thought so.

You can pay more if you want but he actually fills a need for Detroit so I don't think there's a need to play tough. The goodwill earned may become useful in the future...

We'll see. The team trading for him must also have the cap to sign him, there may not be many such teams.

Eh I think most teams have 3-5M$ for an asset like him and could fairly easily jettison a Carson Soucy type asset if needed but he's definitely underrated

Can we all for a second join hands, sing kumbayah and appreciate how badly STL effed up their situation to potentially not be able to keep Dunn here?

      🤝

And no the cup doesn't validate it

I knew they shouldn't have signed Faulk to that big contract.

The Blues have about 18M and need to sign 6 players. Kyrou and Thomas will eat up about 6M. I could see them resign Bozak at a low amount. We’ll say 3M to be safe. That still leaves 9M for for really one piece and depth. If they want to keep Dunn they will, especially with Seattle draft looming and the ability to pay to offload someone like Scandella. That said I don’t think Berube and Armstrong want to keep Dunn and would prefer a more defensive minded defender with Krug already in the fold. I would imagine they’ll shoot for a winger or draft capital in return.

Dunn costs more but id pay it. Skip ghost and sign a reasonable vet instead short term unless they kick in a bit more. Fabbri is probably gone no matter what anyone in GR looks like. 3 years of wennberg seems 1 too many.

There is no point to giving up a pick Seattle can take who they want its not big deal but if Namestnikov is unprotected they will take him. Cholowski and Lindstrom are the only defensemen Seattle would consider and Detroit can protect one of them. Hronek, Stecher and ????. For the forwards Detroit protects Larkin, Vrana, Bertuzzi, Fabbri and Rasmussen. That leaves Svech, Smith, Erne and Namestnikov for the last 2 spots.

What if that pick was Washington's 2021 1st? Would that be enough for Dunn

Pretty well thought out. The only tweak, is that instead of Namestikov, I'd rather they package a 3rd to Seattle to take Panik.

I’d think right now the going rate is probably a one and a three. Most likely he’ll be used to bring in some help in the top 6 though

I actually think Pánik is a better player than Namestnikov, especially at the 4th line position that's available for them. I think he is a better grinder and more physical and don't mind his contract since it's of no consequence for Detroit. His grit may also make him a better trade piece to a contender at a deadline than Namestnikov will.

He would likely be a good fit for Detroit so if there's a reasonable deal that can be worked out I'd like to see it done.

I respectfully disagree. I don't mind Panik, but Namestikov is more versatile and a better penalty killer imo, which makes him more valuable.

I like the Wennberg sigining but 1 or 2 years makes more sense. Vrana deal is too long, 5 or 6 years makes more sense. I hope we can add Dunn, it may take another 2nd or a 3rd (NYI & COL Toews deal). Dont see the reason for taking Ghost. Also I think it makes sense to let Ras and Veleno take some reps at center this year. Let them learn and see what we have in them.
