I’d rather just trade Tierney for a 3rd, no retention, no Engvall. And I would want more for taking on Kassian, imo his negative value is higher than Bear’s positive value at this point.

Definite no on the Oilers. Barrie is likely to walk so I still see a spot for Bear on the RHS. As we see every year, whistles go away in the playoffs and players like Kassian are important in the post season as the games get tighter and more physical. We did start to see Good Kassian in the Winnipeg series. He's overpaid and inconsistent but I don't see anyone on the roster that really takes his role. Giving up 2 roster players that we'd have to fill in free agency for a 2nd round pick I don't see as a win.

Barrie signed a 1 year deal in Edmonton so he could put up some points and earn a bigger contract somewhere else, which is what likely ends up happening

Yeah but if we’re gonna just trade him on for picks, why not just ask for a pick for the retention straight up lol, let Toronto try to trade Engvall for a pick to recoup that asset, no need to add hassle to us

I get what you're saying but Tierney at best gets us a 3rd, if we can end up with a 3rd and 5th for him by taking and moving Engvall, I'm okay with it. Hell, if we can't move him see if he clicks with someone at camp and keep him - he's got speed and size - then move him at the deadline as a rental.
