He's a low-end #4 who can elevate his game when it matters

well at first glance his numbers don't scream anything close to top 4, but his game and style of play is perfect for the playoffs

He's definitely a solid 2nd pairing guy tho. Skates surprisingly well for a bigger dude too. I still can't understand how Romanov is not playing over Gustafsson or Kulak....

Chiarot probably played his best game of the season tonight.

Before season began I said Evans would continue to improve. I also said he can replace Danault next season should Habs want a cheaper player to then be able to spend on a good LW.

For Tuna to be a healthy scratch in playoffs it appears he’s gone for next season.

I always enjoyed him as a Jets fan. Wish we could’ve kept him.

He’s a steady guy who’s a perfect #4 with a really good playoff style.

Kinda like Pionk, he was underappreciated on NY and went to winnipeg and flourished in the role he was given

Starting to think it wldn't be the worst thing if we lose Danault to free agency... Evans moves up to replace him, and Poehling comes in to replace evans' spot.

Totally agree. Chiarot and byfuglien were a nasty pair. Now Jets are left without both :/

Well, it was a whole thing. The 2018-19 year ended, he left after clearing the end of year medical exam. At some point during the summer either a lingering injury got way worse (he was dealing with a high ankle sprain the prior year) or he hurt himself during the summer. He showed up to training camp, decided that he was too hurt to play so sat out, then went out of his way on his own without telling the Jets and got a surgery. So the team and him had some issues with how it went down and mutually terminated his deal. He basically retired.

That's a huge role for Evans. He's not putting up points right now because he's shutting down Matthews, which I don't think any other center on the team could do

I want to point out that I like Danault, but he will be around $5 million per. Playing with top wingers (prior to this season) the most goals he got was 12 goals. Some will say but Evans has not put up enough points. Last year he hardly played and this year he was in and out of the lineup. When he played he was often on 4th line, get 8 to 12 minutes per game. Put him at 18 minutes with offensive wingers and he’s capable of 12 goals per season. His face offs are comparable to Danault. Most importantly he’s 3 to 4 million less per season than Danault, which could be used for a good LW for next season.
