Description
Bruins shed some salary (~2M) and get a decent asset (41st OA pick) and a chance in Virtanen. Frederick is a likely expansion pick and Khokhlachev is an old pick. Debrusk is the best player but also underperformed.
I feel like it benefits both teams but perhaps nucks would need to add. I assume in this scenario Virtanen is cleared of any legal issues.

LA take an extra pick and a flyer on the more skilled and younger dman.

Khokhlachev is a UFA in the KHL and would be an additional Russian to help Podkolzin. No idea if he has desire to return to NA but has had some decent seasons in the KHL. 2.5 per might be a little low but a decent 3C could be added for that price point. Haula, Zajac, Bjugstad, Glendening, Soderberg etc.

Not sure I want Edler back but I assume it is a forgone conclusion, Comrie would be a risk as a backup but there are a number of options that would be well below Holtby's salary. I'm assume Seattle would want a significant asset to take Holtby so would elect to buyout.

MacDermid is likely hitting waivers in October. He's just sticking around for the expansion draft exposure requirements. If you want him, you can probably have him for free.

not a chance bruins accept this 1. not many teams will go for virtanen due to his rep now whether he wins his case or not. 2. both debrusk and freddy dramatically outperformed virtanen this season 3. debrusk has had 3 35+ point seasons and a 27 goal season, where virtanen has only reached 30+ points once. 4. Debrusk is just having a bad season which he has been making up for in his playoff performances so far and virtanen is straight up just a bust 5. if you think these teams would even consider trading any thing with value to each other not a chance after all the the things that went down in the 2010-11 playoffs. 6. Frederic is one of bruins only prospects including jack studnicka and john beecher that have the potential to replace krecji as our second line center. so ya canucks gonna have to give up much more then just a second and a 5 goal 0 assists in 38 games player for bruins future second line center and winger but nice try

maybe bruins would trade khokhlachevs rights for virtanen but thats it lol virtanen is not much more then a 4th liner/ checking third liner. he has lost his scoring touch and i doubt he will regain it, plus once all this is over with the whole sexual assault cases even if he wins the kids confidence is gonna be shot the whole league will look down on him including a lot of his teammates will probably no longer have the respect they once had for him in my opinion virtanens career the way its been going is close to being over, virtanen was just a product of his linemates once he was removed from horvats line his game completely disappeared

Would not trade Debrusk or Frederic for that package by themselves let alone together.

You want Debrusk and Frederic Boesser or Horvat are coming back.

That bruins trade is low key awful.
That doesn’t get you debrusk.
That doesn’t get you Frederic.
Have at khokhlachev, and good luck convincing him to return to North America.

This trade is awful, but if you think Frederic has the makings of a second line center, you’re equally insane.

You guys are nuts, the value is the high draft pick. The way I see it is Frederick for Virtanen, 41OA for Debrusk. Koko doesn't have any value

Boeser and Horvat are legit top line players and you think they are worth an overpaid bottom 6 winger and a 4th liner?

Virtanen for all his warts is a consistent middle 6 scorer with some breakout potential, he fell off a cliff this year obviously. Debrusk is a better player but pretty similar scenario although he's played better.

i dont see why he couldnt be hes a previous first round pick, hes only played 59 games in the nhl we have yet to see what he can become, hes just a rookie a lot can happen between now and 4 years into his career. I dont think anyone predicted marchand to be anything more then a second line winger at most and now hes a top 10 player in the nhl

Well, few things here.
1. The bruins reached. Big time. He was projected to go third round by many. The only reason he showed up to the first round was he had a lot of teammates that were expected to go high.
2. Do you know what draft position means 5 years after a guys draft year? Literally nothing. In that draft Olli Juolevi was the first d man taken, 5th overall i believe. Mcavoy was taken 16th. Fox was taken in the third round. What does draft position five years down the road matter at all? The bruins top line is a late late first, a second, and a third. You even seem to start the sentence by saying that being a first round pick matters, and then finishing it by saying it doesnt.
3. The bruins front office literally said when they drafted him he projected as a bottom six guy.
4. Watch him play! I like the player. Want him on the team long term. If he’s top six the team is in a bad spot.

okay you are acting like im saying hes a top 6 center now. Read what i said, "he has the potential' and yes if you are drafted first round that means something, later rounds you more likely draft based on best available and sometimes you luck out and the kids works hard and becomes a steal. but frederic was a point per game player in college and was around a . 55 ppg player in the ahl last year so ya he has the "POTENTIAL" to one day become a top 6 center for the bruins if he develops right

you are judging freddy off one year saying no he cant be a top 6 center and im tryin g to explain he has had a decent scoring touch both in college and ahl so if he gets more experience in the nhl maybe that scoring touch can translate to the nhl

I’m judging him off his entire career, and what the bruins said they drafted him for. Thinking he has top six potential is bananas.

didnt know you are apart of the bruins organization with all this insider information but okay highly doubt teams waste a first rd pick on a potential 4th liner, that makes a lot of sense

you think boston drafted pastrnak 24th overall so he could just become a 4th liner? but then he shocked them and became a top 5 RW in the league?

Inside information? Dude, they said it on tv right after drafting him. You’re getting mad at me for paying attention.

“Frederic is not going to be a top two line guy, we know that.” - Keith Gretzky, bruins director of scouting right after the pick was made.
