I wouldn't trade Rakell for those three players, and I wouldn't trade Gibson for those three picks.

Seems like a poor value signing long term....maybe even short term.

The silliest part about this is that Mike Smith wasn't the reason that the Oilers lost. They lost four games on merit -- lack of depth, lack of commitment, odd coaching, not poor goaltending.

The Oilers were clearly the better team. They lost largely due to Hellebuyck, although poor coaching played a part too. They have the 2nd best xGF% in the playoffs and the 2nd best HDCF%.

Reffing was poor as usual too - despite the fact he got mugged every time he stepped onto the ice, McDavid didn't draw a single penalty in the series. For a guy who drew 1.41 penalties/60 in the regular season, he should have drawn at least two in these 4 games.

He'll be 29 before free agency opens.
