Brodin and Parise both have NMCs. I don't see either of them waiving them.

That is true, I just don't know what Parise is thinking after the rough season for him, idk about how he would feel about going to Seattle and being a leader there, I know he wants to win a cup. And I think Brodin's NMC kicks in July 1st when his new contract starts, so the trade would have to happen before then.

Could easily be Dumba instead. I think Brodin-Carlson could be one of the best top pairs in the league.

No way Rossi will be ready with the year he's had, at least not on day 1

Fair enough, hope for the best! Most likely he starts in AHL. Although he was one of the prospects that was considered 'ready to play right away' when he was drafted.

Brodin's NMC was retroactive for this year too as part of the new contract.

Brodin's contract was included the NMC when he signed on Sept 15th, 2020 so he'll need to waive... which I doubt he would ever do.

I'd rather have Brodin personally.

We definitely need help at center but Kuznetsov doesn't strike me as the type of player Guerin would be interested in. Guerin seems to want competitors and team-first guys and Kuznetsov takes a ton of plays (and even games) off where he's completely invisible. I love his game when he works hard, but he doesn't always do that.

Too old IMO, but he's still a great player and I'd be intrigued if he's cheap to acquire. We need a long-term solution.

You guys just signed Brodin to a serious extension, and he's played entirely up to it. Why in the world would you want to trade him? If you did, LA would be standing in line mentioning Alex Turcotte and the 8th overall pick in this year's draft (not both, though). Rob Blake has already mentioned his interest in obtaining a #1 LD this off-season.

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way.

Thank you!

Idk I thought his NMC kicked in July 1st but it doesn't. He is also more valuable than Dumba is but idk how desperate Guerin is for a #1 anymore. We def need an established one because I can't stand Fiala being a one man line anymore, was very evident last night.

I have a feeling Fiala will be offered in a package for Eichel. I'd hate to see us move him because while he makes mistakes he absolutely owns up to them and hasn't complained once publically about his linemates. Plus he's fun as hell to watch when he's not turning over pucks. We just can't find a good fit for him on a line and even if we acquired a center it will likely be for Kaprizov and Zucc, meaning Fiala would still be stuck with plugs.

Given Eichel's injury concerns I'm not offering either Fiala or Rossi to BUF if I'm Guerin. A package based around Dumba, Boldy, and Khovanov is where I'd start. Adding other pieces to give additional value.

But that's only if we go for Eichel.

Personally, I would try to target one of Hertl if we can, and he's available, or Monahan... and yes I know how you feel about him, or sign Danault.

I think Monahan would be our best bet. Cheapest of the lot, needs a change of scenery and a much better locker room atmosphere, which we can provide. He would fit well with either Kaprizov or Fiala. Kaprizov and Zuccarello make more sense to start off with as they can be defensively sound enough to cover for Monahan's defensive deficiencies.

I'm fine with Monahan, but Guerin apparently isn't interested. I like Hertl but he'd have to come with an extension. Danault is the least exciting to me, we already have someone like him with Ek and I think we need someone with a more offensive game for Kaprizov.

Eichel's injury is definitely a concern, but I think he'll be fine.

Jonas Brodin is untouchable. Kuznetsov doesn't have that type of value. wild aren't trading Jonas Brodin, their #1 d for a player whose been not good for 2 years .

I'm aware.

We know he was offered Monahan strait up for Dumba and turned it down. It was clear he had no interest in Monahan during last off-season, but that was then. Monahan's price has since come down, especially since he just had hip surgery.

Because of that I wouldn't be surprised if it gets revisited this off-season, especially if he can be had for less. Guerin is on record talking about relationships with other GM's and his views on trading, and how often times many trades are the byproduct of old offers or trade discussions that were revisited later.

Whether he is or isn't, he doesn't add to what we already have. Just playing the position of center isn't enough to be helpful to the Jackets; we kind of very specifically need either a bona-fide #1C or a top-6 level "heavy minutes shield" to protect the guys we already have. Rask doesn't really fit either of those.
