I don't see why Washington makes any of these moves. You're losing massive value by giving up a top line centre and young goalie (those always take longer to develop), for a #7 defenceman, a bottom 6 winger who might not even be tendered this off-season as a RFA so you could sign him for free as a UFA, then just a bunch of picks that don't help for 3-5 years.. maybe

Then taking Engvall for Spring is a real head scratcher. Sprong's still got some scoring potential left in him and Engvall has proven he's nothing more than a 4th line forward that's highly inconsistent.

Are you trying to rebuild the team? Cause both Edmonton and Toronto take those deals and run fast before you call back to cancel.

Zero chance Edmonton does this. $7.8M for a cokehead 3rd line center for the next 4 years? How many 1st are you sending along with that disaster?

Samsonov is fine and maybe one day he's a starter, but Edmonton can bring in a UFA starter without giving up a 1st, a 2nd and taking back a bad contract. Besides, Washington has zero leverage in any Samsonov deal because they're about to lose him to Seattle in the expansion draft and everyone knows that.

Easy no from the Oilers.

You could pretty easily flip Kuzy if you wanted to most likely — there are teams that would give a 1st+ out there for him.

LOL 3rd liner? Alright buddy. And Sammy isn't being exposed. They'll protect him or trade him.

Wow. If this is how how Oilers fans think then yikes...

He's a top 6 easily on most teams in the league, including Edmonton. Worst case, if you don't like him, for the value you're getting in this deal you could easily flip him for more.

But cmon, know your **** first.

Exactly - they have to trade him or they'll lose him for nothing. So they have no leverage.

I don't see many teams willing to take on a $7.8M x 4 year deal, especially when it's attached to an underperforming, declining 29-year-old with addiction issues - let alone give up a 1st for it! If you really believe that, then I've got some prime ocean-front property in Arizona that you'll love!

They don't have to trade him at all lol What aren't you getting about this? They have 1 slot to protect a goalie, it will be Sammy. So they have all the leverage. They don't need to lose him for nothing.

I could see ANA, BUF, MIN, FLA, CGY, CBJ, and maybe even SJS or VGK having varying degrees of interest. Maybe there's slight retention, but I don't think it would be too hard finding a taker for him. And maybe they don't all offer 1sts, I'm just saying that EDM can recoup some of the assets they traded away to get Samsonov by flipping Kuznetsov if they don't want him on the team.

So they'll lose Vanecek for nothing then? That doesn't seem to be a smart move.

Zero reason to give up assets for that package though. There are better goalies on the free agent market and they have no use for Kuznetsov. If there are teams that want that contract then trade him to one of them instead.

Kuznetsov's P/GP over the past 4 seasons:

2017-18: 1.05
2018-19: 0.95
2019-20: 0.83
2020-21: 0.71

Who's going to want to pay this guy $7.8M for each of his 29, 30, 31 and 32-year-old season? His production isn't likely to improve.

Lol. That "declining 29 year old" would still be the third highest scoring forward on the Oilers. So even in a down season he still improves your team 😂

McDavid, Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins all had more points than cokehead. If you want to look at goal scoring a bunch more guys were better too.

Keep your addict. Nobody wants him. Nobody wants to pay him $7.8M as he declines.

I don't know why you resort to insults when you're clearly wrong..

Kuznetsov: 0.71ppg

Last time I checked, 0.71 is higher than 0.68 🙂

Wow. So you can use points per game to justify your argument earlier, but when someone else uses it against you it's not valid?

😂😂 you're weak kid.
