Some interesting ideas....

Dont think PHI will be looking to acquire UFAs though. Armia is a good player and has good value, but maybe not to PHI. (Although Kulak and a signed Armia or Montour would make PHI deal)

I dont know about the MTL deal. Armia and Lehtkonen are UFAs they probably wont retain, Weal is just a contract, but Kulak (1 yr left) has some value and the picks even in a suspected weak draft have value.

Absolutely not. This is way above market value for Hall, and we don’t want Montour. And we aren’t really overly interested in Hall either. Trade him somewhere else.

Lehkonen is an RFA. A 1st and a 2nd is too much for Hall, and the habs aren’t giving up 3 good players in addition to that.

I already think we got plenty of depth right now to make it... lets not break the locker room by trading that many guys away.

Agreed, unfortunately for the Sabres, Hall's value has been diminishing almost by the game. His talent is clear but teams might worry about his fit and his defensive liabilities. But at least they signed him as an FA so any return they get will be something more than they had I suppose.

True, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens either considering how Hextall is reportedly looking for a center and is probably looking for a really cheap one.

Just so you know, this was based on a Canadiens fan's idea. Also I broke it down to

Hall(50%) for MTL's 1st and Armia
Montour(50%) for Kulak and Lehkonen
The remaining value left over I took Weal's contract and got a 2nd in 2022 for it.

Yeah, unfortunately there are a bunch of crazy habs fans on this site.

Hall isn’t going to get a 1st, this has been said over and over again by the people who know the market. And if anyone’s going to overpay for Hall it isn’t Montréal.

I don’t understand why anyone would think the habs would want Montour, especially at the expense of Lehkonen. And he isn’t much (if at all) better than Kulak.

And no one is giving you a 2nd for $325K in cap space.

Just as many have said he can get a 1st as those who said he won't. To be honest I think he will more based off the multiple teams involved and all this low value stuff is just the usual Leaf media trying to make it easier for their favorites to get him.

Hall has no value because of the cap. Literally, the Habs would have to give up better players just to get him in the lineup. Will be tough enough to fit Staal and Caulfield. The only ppl that value Hall dont understand the salary cap and haven't watched him play this season

Habs need a LD. I can think of dozens of better options than Hall

Square peg in round hole. Even at retention no team can fit Hall's salary outside the Isles, maybe. His NMC. Thats called leverage. His value isn't close to a 1st but continue reading hearsay, you simply need to know how to count, ppl can say whatever they want and most have no clue what they are talking about or are trying to create a market that isnt there

Alright, I see you’re going with the conspiracy theory. Last time I checked, what GMs are willing to give up for a player isn’t dictated by what the media says. However, the inverse is usually true.

The market isn’t there for Hall because there aren’t many teams that are interested. There are few teams that can afford him even at 50% retained salary, and just because a team might be interested in trading for him doesn’t mean they’re willing to give an arm and a leg to get him.

To be honest I'd rather just eat him for the season then take some weak offer of a 3rd rounder or the like.

As for conspiracy, the Sabres have always been ridiculed and trashed by Toronto based media. For instance, just look at the sheer number of supposed Eichel trade rumors. They seem hellbent on getting him traded to the Rangers because "we don't deserve him"

You’re clearly not paying attention to the right people then. Absolutely none of the reputable sources have said anything beyond the fact that Kevyn Adams is considering all his options and listening to all offers. (Which is what all GMs should be doing anyways) There are no “Eichel rumours”, just crazy fans speculating.

And he’ll likely get something like a 2nd and a prospect. The reasoning given for this is because teams are really valuing the 1st round picks, in conjunction with Hall’s salary and his less than stellar season.
