Yes. He knew BUF was gonna be a borderline playoff team at best. He thought he could rack up a point per game and sign a massive ling term contract this summer. What was all that talk from Hall about wanting to win more than anything? Guess he wanted to get paid more than anything. Nonethinbg wrong with that, but don't expect bug rewards after a terrible season.

BTW, Hall probably could've signed for 8x8 with the Devils before he was dealt to ARI last season. He wanted to go UFA. That decision will likely cost him a minimum of $30M over the rest of his career. OUCH!

All those offers are fairly weak/too much In TOR favour though. Bennett probably gets a late 3rd easy, with retention, a late 2nd seems better.

I do hope Hall does go to Toronto, it would mean they get eliminated in the first round for sure.
As for Bennett he needs a new team, he’s better than what he’s been in Calgary.

If a 3rd is all it takes for Bennett the Sabres do that without retention, after dumping a salary or 2 to make room.

I'm pretty sure arizona offered him more than 8x8 before free agency as well
