Ror trade was worse. Honestly i absolutely hated it when it happened, the fact that armstrong got to keep his top 3 prospects (hell, they may have had thompson ranked even lower internally), while giving us every penny plus back in absolutely useless cap dumps, and a first and second. Stl stumbled pretty bad out of the gate, which had some sabres fans like myself thinking "meh, that pick could be pretty alright", then in november, it got leaked that botterill let armstrong top 10 protect the pick. Then of course binnington showed up and put boot to ass for 4 months, and ya know, stanley cup. Of course ror won the conn smythe too. Maybe it is hindsight, but it looked awful when it happened, and it somehow got worse. Tage thompson is awful, and ryan johnson (pick 31) looked ok in the world juniors, but i believe he just scored his first college goal in 62 college games last week. A lot of this is on botterill, who has gotta be the worst former gm in hockey. Skinner was also not his finest hour, he overpaid him by probably 2.5 per on a long term deal. It looks awful now, his career year was 40g 23a- which got him the deal, and with the holes in his game he pretty much needs to do that to every year. Skinner wanted to play here or toronto, toronto did not want him, which makes overpaying him maddening. YOU WERE NEGOTIATING AGAINST YOURSELF BIGHEAD. I get other fans thinking skinner is a worse move, but our gm basically paid another team to take a guy that won them the cup. Would toronto trade sandin and/robertson for a guy that could get them their first banner since before man walked on the moon?
