Description
PLEASE READ!

These would all be done at the 2021 TDL. HOWEVER, this team is made in the 2021-22 season so we have to see the the resulting RFAs and how the team would look as a result.

If a 2021 pick is traded, I will speculate who the Sharks could pick, mainly based on my rankings (I'm at 22 ranked players, but it will likely expand to 40 in the next few days).

They're bonafide contenders. Their pick would be between 28 and 31. The other ones have chances to be higher, especially the 2022 picks, it's a large gamble. Trading firsts a year away are risky, as the Sharks and Sens have learned.

These all look like awful value for Hertl. Not a single top prospect or high pick for a 1C with two years left

The Yotes didn't have to give up Soderstrom for Hall, not sure why we should expect a team's top prospect if we're getting a first

This should be interesting. Majority of this site thinks Hertl is worth a 3rd. On the other end of that, Sharks fans often think he's worth more.

Colorado trade is the best for us there. A blue line with Timmins. Ferraro. Merkley. Would be pretty neat.

IMO Hertl to Florida makes a lot of sense. I don't know about the return you have here though. I'm not big on Smilanic, but maybe his game has taken steps since he was drafted?

Sharks would either have to retain or take Kerfoot for the trade to go through. But otherwise, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat.

Yesterday I put out a Wild thread for after the season before the expansion draft. My offer was Jordan Greenway, Brennan Menell, 2021 MN 1st, 2021 MN 2nd and 2022 SJS 5th for Hertl... based on the above proposals I'd say I could remove Menell and still have a competitive offer or swap him out for a lower valued prospect.

that's because Hall didn't have another year on his contract

I don't think I've seen that at all, I think you may be mistaking him with Nieto?

Hertl and Hall are quite similar in terms of value at being traded. With NJ Hall has a very similar ppg ahead of his trade to Arizona to what Hertl has currently. And Hertl has two years left, and a lesser salary, and more goals. His past results are not that of Hall's tho. I would expect similar overall value. However, at the time of the trade, Yotes were leading the Pacific, right? so expected a late first, plus what they got. That is how I'm basing this trade, to a similar overall value

Hall's resume is much larger. Hertl yet to win a Hart, or have an 80 point season.
I'm saying this all because we need to be realistic. WE love Hertl, that doesn't mean every team wants to mortgage their future in a time when frankly no one knows the future.

No, I wasn't mistaking him with Nieto. My 3rd round compensation was meant to be sarcastic. Essentially, the values are always off.

I actually don't think this is that bad of a trade.

He's been an insanely good goalscorer in the ncaa so far this season, but who is to say that it will continue

Niemela is a top 3 prospect for the Leafs right now. Also giving up a 1st rounder.
