Realistic Trade Deadline Moves for Sharks Including a Meier to NYI Blockbuster

Créé par: CheechYou
Équipe: 2020-21 Sharks de San Jose
Date de création initiale: 16 mars 2021
Publié: 17 mars 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Meier paired up with Barzal on the top line will be a young deadly top-line combo of the future, especially with Anders Lee now out for the season in the short-term too.

Sharks buy out Jones in the offseason and roll with Sorokin and Melnichuk as their goalies of the future.

Keep in mind that this year's Islanders 1st (probably next year's too) will be a low 1st rounder and esp this year, in a weak draft class.

COL declines, Nieto love him but don’t need him, and Dubnyk is awful which COL already has in a cheaper form of Miska.

No way, Dubnyk is just bad and Nieto is kinda redundant. I’d rather just get Bernier

I would trade sorokin for Meier, but there is no chance the isles are adding two 1st rd picks. Sorokin has a a lot of value in a trade.

Sharks should not be trading Timo unless it's an overpay.

This ain't it chief.

You dont think that TWO 1st and Sorokin is an overpay for Meier? Ok. What is he worth then? Wahlstrom, Dobson, 1st, Beauvillier?

Meier is a great player, but his QO is 10 mill , there’s definitely risk in trading for him. He’s a 7-7.5 mill player at best.

Something like that.

He's a forward that is blue chip, close to being an All-Star and would be placed on any team's top line.

He has a good cap hit and is under team control for the foreseeable future.

Sharks would definitely be asking for heaven and earth.

He has a good caphit until his QO kicks in at 10 mil. You have absolutely no idea how good Wahlstrom AND Dobson already is and will be. + a 1st and Beauvillier who killed it last playoffs. Yes Meier is a really good player, but come on. I was being sarcastic when I proposed those players for Meier. Of course Sharks would and should ask much for him, but this is not even close to realistic.

When I said "something like that", I wasn't really pointing to anything specific.

But, Meier is a vital piece as part of their core group of players.

They already cut themselves down to the bone when they brought in EK65 and signed him into that massive contract at the expense of key players that walked out on the Sharks back in 2018/2019.

The Sharks have no interest in trading Meier unless it's massive overpay.

If I'm Doug Wilson and I need to trade Timo, I'm getting back what Colorado got in 2017 for Matt Duchene or what Ottawa got for EK65.

Nothing less than that. Sorry. smile

No from NYI. The two 1sts is already more than necessary but throwing in Sorokin seems unfair.

Two late 1sts, one of which that'll for sure be in a weaker class, for Meier? Seems unfair ...

How many players have been traded for two 1sts in the NHL? Phil Kessel and Erik Karlsson?

That's my point. It takes a premium for top-line younger guys in their prime or approaching their to get traded. That's why you rarely see it.

If you don't want 2 1sts coming back, fine, but you'll need to include Sorokin + Wahlstrom or Dobson. You have to pay a price either way man...
