The wild who already have a coronavirus outbreak are having cap trouble. Once Zuccarello returns for them, they have to send multiple guys down, or figure out another way to be cap compliance. So in essence, it's going to be hard asking teams like wild to retain. Even if the wild are out at trade deadline, they will still need Bodies/ C's to Finish season.

Getting salary off the books, even with retention, actually helps our cap situation (this deal opens about 2 mil). Obviously the retention will cost something but it’s not a big deal on expiring contracts like Bonino’s. The Bennett/Compher deal might have impacts but it’s not too big.

With the coronavirus, who will play c for wild ? Who can wild put at c spot who won't cost more than 2 mil? Because teams whether wild or not still will need Bodies to finish year.

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter too much. They’d bring some guys up from Iowa if need be or there’s talk of trying to get Stepan if cap space opens up. I’d be very surprised if Bonino was on the Wild at the end of the year.

He should not have never been a Wild player to begin with... Chucky was better than Bonino has been in MN; which is sad to say.

With the way he's playing he'll be on the Wild when the season is done. Nobody is going to want to give up enough to make it worth MN trading him instead of making their own sad Playoff push with him. Anything less that a 2nd is below the break even point for MN imo. MN simply doesn't have any centers to replace him.

Getting someone like Stepan will cost more than Bonino gets back in trade. So it makes no sense to trade away a rental center, and then pay more to get another rental center. When neither of them are (or at least should not be) in the long-term team plans.

They are still going to lose Greenway, or pay SEA not to take him. They really didn't get Hunt (not Jones) as part of the Kunin trade, MN traded that 3rd + 5th to move up to get Hunt.

So it was a Kunin +4th + 5th for Bonino (rental) + Marat K. + Hunt. I'm not sure if this makes it sound better or worse.
