Why not target Casey Cizikas? It’s looking like the Islanders could miss the playoffs, he’s a ufa, IMO he’d be a great addition if your looking for a 3C

Yeah you're moving a 1st round pick for a guy who scores 25 pointa a season. I know hes done well in the playoffs but its too much.

Colorado would only be moving down ~15-20 picks in what is a crapshoot draft. Kinda reminiscent to Tampa moving down a round to get Goodrow.

I agree, Cizikas should be a prime target for Colorado if he's available. Exactly what we need.

I would assume that the price to acquire him would be pretty high, especially if this Bennett trade is made first to use up a 1st.

The way I see these two trades in combination is that Colorado swap Compher for Bennett + Haula effectively for the price of moving down ~15-20 picks from 30th to 45-50, and moving down from the late 3rd round to the mid 5th round (45 picks). In a draft that's a crapshoot that could be pretty good value.

What are Compher's strengths and weaknesses?

Compher plays a very north-south game. He's great at getting up and down the ice at speed. His defensive awareness is ok, not great. He's a far better RWer than center. He is good at scoring scrappy goals, and has averaged a very consistent 0.48ppg between the 2017-18 playoffs and the start of this season, including playoffs where he's scored at 0.515ppg in over 30 games. Some of his goals have been clutch. He tends to start a lot of stuff after whistles to get under opponents skin, but rarely takes penalties for it. He stands up for teammates as exemplified by the fight against Minnesota when Makar got charged at.

He's a good fit for this Avs team when he plays on the wing, but with Donskoi at RW Compher doesn't get played there. He would ideally play in a team where he can be the 3RW which is his ideal position. Center is not a good fit for him, and this is Avs fans main gripe with him. If he was on the wing it's likely that few would be complaining about him, at least not as much.

Bennett has 13 points in his last 15 playoff games, along with 54 hits in 10 games. His shooting percentage might be unsustainably high, but the level of hitting is the real reason you acquire him. This Avs team was screaming for a physical guy in the bottom 6 after Calvert got injured against Dallas. Dallas just had their way with the Avs physically.

Come on man, that's ridiculous. One trade doesnt undo all the fantastic work that's been done the last 4 years. Sakic has won every trade he's done since 2017, he has plenty of leeway.
