Description
hi guys, imo laine won't stay in columbus any longer than trade deadline

why?

because he originally didn't intend to land in columbus but was so hopeless to leave winnipeg so that he accepted any offer

I mean he's a player with no clauses. No one needed to ask him whether he wanted to play in Columbus.

Canes with the easy pass. Pesce and Necas are too much already.

This was a deal posted when he was with the jets and Canes fans seemed to hate it then.

Exactly. And Columbus has multiple years of control left. Pretty confident that if Torts gives him the opportunity to succeed, and the team is willing to pony up the cash for him, he could end up being in Columbus for a while.

A Pesce & Necas ask was from Winnipeg, allegedly. Canes management said no. Pesce was untouchable.

With the success of Necas in his expanded role, I don’t think he is far from being added to that list.

I can see that the new Rick Nash has landed in Columbus.

Hopefully the team is more successful with Laine than they were with Nash.

I meant laine was asking for a trade 1/2 year(s) back in time so he nodded for columbus in a second just to avoid staying in winnipeg couple of years more.

🙂

I think he just wanted out there. The receiving team wouldn't have really mattered. He just wanted a new start.

Will be interesting to see how he does under tortorella, who is Paul Maurice's polar opposite. Laine is a mercurial guy on and off the ice and seems like a guy who will clash with tortorella's style. On the other hand, maybe torts is the kind of coach Laine needs to take the next step and become a more consistent player.

and the canes did wrong in the past 🙂 they should have made the deal then

hope they'll change their mind after all

it's better to get what you want than to make compromise, see at players like niederreiter, gardiner, mrazek etc.

The PP isn’t bad. Speaking of those compromises, they are all doing well.

Laine doesn’t fit contractually for us. He is a nice to have not a necessity. Canes would rather keep the necessity of Pesce.

When he was in Winnipeg, the deal was Necas and Pesce for Laine, which Carolina rejected. Forget the 1st rounder, this is a REALLY bad idea. If there's going to be a Laine trade, it's going to be involving someone like Nino Niederreiter to make the cap room (accompanied with the bulk of a different package, that may or may not include Necas but Pesce was deemed untouchable) AFTER he signs a new deal.
