I don't know why the Kings would do this. They have 3 serviceable NHL RHD in Doughty, Walker and Roy. They have three quality prospects in Faber, Grans, and Spence. They also have a meh prospect in Durzi. What they don't have is capable top-six wingers. Sure, Liljegren could turn into an upgrade, but swapping him for Iafallo opens up a gap in the roster with no one to fill it.
Kings should be trading for top-six wingers, not dumping them. I expect we'll get news about a 2-3 year Iafallo extension by April.
Do you really think the Kings can draft 2 RD in the 2nd round and solidify their future right side that easily? You're smarter than that... Grans can't play defense, unless he improves that he won't make the NHL. If he does, he'll be nothing but a 2nd or 3rd pair offensive defenseman who's probably going to be a liability.
In case you weren't paying attention, Faber doesn't have the offensive upside the be the #2 guy behind Doughty. Unless we get a two way guy for the left side, I doubt he'll see much of the 2nd pair. Probably the 3rd pair, if he makes the NHL at all.
Spence has top 4 potential, but he still needs to work on defense. He's nothing, but an offensive defenseman. We don't need those types of defensemen.
Liljegren has top 4 upside and draws some comparisons to Doughty(won't be that good most likely) he has gotten way better defensively. A little bit of time in Ontario with the Kings development staff and he should be good to go. At the cost of Iafallo and Spence I'd say its worth it. Adding Spence was my idea and probably isn't even needed.
Walker has 1 point and a -1 and as you've said before isn't that great of a top 4 guy. We can trade him.
Why would the Kings resign a 27 year old LW when they have guys like Grundstrom, Turcotte, Andersson, and Kempe. The younger guys need minutes and Iaffalo blocks them from getting that.
If they extend Iafallo, it's only to trade him for a bigger return the next year.
I'm so sick of your know-it-all complex when it comes to the Kings. You can't tell me because the Kings have Grans, Faber, and Spence the Kings are all set at RD lol. Yes, Kings need 3 more top 6 wingers assuming Turcotte and Kaliyev pan out and that's also assuming you don't think Grundstrom, Andersson, ****emo, Kupari, and Simontaival won't develop into that. They get that in this draft, free agency, or use our other prospects to aquire them. Kupari, Thomas, Madden, Spence, and Grans are all pieces that could be used in a trade for a top 6 winger as well as 1st round picks when some of our top tier prospects become NHL regulars.
