Call me surprised if DET gets more than that. Barre-Boulet is the absolute maximum, and I can't see Brisebois offering that.

I still for some reason see Paquette and Sceviour swapping teams. The penguins need another real bottom 6 center and I don't see them getting Haula that would have happened by now if it was going to.
Sceviour would get dumped in the minors for TB and Paquette could start at 4C for the penguins and Blueger at 3C.
While not perfect for either team it's just something that I think works. TB saves cap, penguins get a center. 1 for 1, no other bs needed.

As for the DET trade, I don't see it. Trading Zetterberg does nothing for DET. I keep seeing this from TB fans, there is no logic behind it. He's on LTIR. He's covered by insurance. Moving him doesn't do anything for DET. So to take TJ for Raddysh who frankly doesn't look like all that much at this point and he's 22, and a late round 1st. For 4 years of a bad contract and 18-19 million real cash. I don't see it.
I don't think TJ gets moved. That's a contract that no one wants to touch. Killorn there instead and you may have something. I could see Killorn and a 1st to DET. Either way I don't think TB was ready for the market they are facing.

What more do you want? A decent prospect and a 1st just to take a player who would be among the better half the wings roster. Seems like a killer deal for Detroit. Kinda a no brainer in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I dunno why people think TJ as a player is in the same level as for example Loui Eriksson is, and TB should be paying more to move the guy than VAN would have to pay to move Eriksson...

People seem to think just because Tampa is pressed against the cap can demand anything and everything. It’s foolish in my opinion. I just don’t get it I think TJ is better player than over half the wings roster it’s not like they are getting a complete bumm he’s a useful player.

And if anyone knows that, it's Yzerman. He's the guy that brought him in undrafted in the first place...

It's gonna be a way better player then raddysh. Or we aren't taking him

If Johnson to DET is happening, I believe the compensation DET is getting will be way less than what you seem to think. But we'll see.

It's going to cost a way better prospect then a guy whose not an nhl player. We don't need him and we are rebuilding. If you want the wings to take him tampa gonna pay. We are rebuilding and not taking a guy who has 4 years at 5M for anything less then a substantial offer. We are building through the draft and not taking long term older players for anything except a steal. It's hugo + first + 3rd or no deal to take him. If tampa says no, that's fine, they can play the season without cirelli ask cernak then and wings move on happily without the contract

He’s better player currently but his deal isn’t for one year. Detroit has guys like Zadina, Raymond, Berggren joining the club in the next couple years so then we’re paying 5M for a third line which seems okay but people will point to him regressing. Some will point to his 29 goal season recently and fail to mention it was a inflated shooting percentage. If we’re talking about the value of a first round pick from Tampa we’re really talking about pick 25-32 which really don’t have a great chance and an impact player. Do I think he’s a bum? No but I think some people undersell or oversell items so they fit their narrative.

Nope. It was TJ+Raddysh+1st from the get go. Think that'll be the absolute maximum what Tampa is willing to pay. Raddysh can be replaced with Alnefelt should it come to that, but DET has a lot of goalie prospects as well I think.

I am just going to copy and paste this from another thread cause its still valid.

We keep seeing this trade rumor in several forms coming out but nothing actually happening. I get the feeling that the wings and lightning are not on the same page value wise on a deal involving Johnson. Its going to either cost a lot more than the rumored packages or maybe there is no deal to be made. From the wings perspective there is no point in committing to a player for more years than anyone other than Mantha on the roster at this time, and certainly not someone in their 30's. Why do it? He isn't going to make the team competitive and if you want veteran leadership is currently cheap to sign via FA. The bought out Abby not to cap reasons but for the roster spot and contract slot that he had (remember 50 limit), it seems counter-productive to then get a player who also doesn't fit your long term plans (yes is better then Abby, but so are a slew of young guys that need the playing time).

Another point against a deal is the term, since there are so many unknowns at this time about the effect long term on the salary cap, we know that for the next 2 season it will be flat, but if it stays flat after that? The wings plan is to build through the draft and let core develop, well what happens in 2-3 years if they do and this contract is still on the books in a flat cap? Its not about this season or next for the Wings its about after that. None of these deal take that into consideration.

I think that the Stevie Y stated goal of improvement while keeping flexibility of the roster is counter to a Johnson trade. At least in the rumored variety. I believe it will cost far more then the Lightning want to pay and so no deal will come. A late first in a so-so draft is not likely to change much for the Wings longer term, especially since they have 3 2nds in the draft, to warrant taking on the contract or more accurately the term.

Because we have something you need, bot the other way around. Johnson is over 30 making 5 million for 4 years and us on the decline. As a team rebuilding he will be gone by the team is contending. Tour comment that he would be better than 1/2 the current Wings maybe true today but 3 years from now that will not be the case and that is when it counts, at least for the Wings.

I just have a gut feeling the sharks could deploy Tyler like they did with Pavelski, I see Tyler as a smaller slower forward with great hands an nose for the puck and an above average ability to tip, backhand, or one Time pucks from the point, much like Pavelski!!!!
Given our two strongest players Burns and Karlsson are RD who excel at getting the puck to the net from the point I see this as a grey fit a “diamond in the rough” opportunity to take a player at a discount and revive his career!
