Weber is a outlier here imo - shouldn’t be on the team

I still don’t believe neal is as bad as he’s made out to be. Not an ideal contract number but it is within what was the market value before COVID crisis for a veteran very consistent goal scorer. I think with Neal he gets viewed now based off his performance in Calgary more than he’s more recent bounce back season. Need to keep in consideration last season he spent the second half of it playing on one leg that needs to be factored in. Before the injury he was on pace for 30 goals yes mostly pp work but that’s still a 30 goal pace that doesn’t generally come much cheaper when it’s a veteran player that’s proven to do it over time.

Gourde for me is kinda meh, what I mean is he can play well enough to not make his contract look bad, so idk if he should be on the list. But in reality he should be getting around 3.5

You would almost think that RD get paid more because there are not enough good ones to go around. Supply and demand affect NHL contracts too. I was expecting Zaitsev, also a RD, to be on this list.

I can understand the Weber reasoning too though. Its not the money now, its the term. That deal takes him into his 40's, and I'd be surprised if that 7.9M still looks great in a few years. That said I agree that there are better candidates for this team than him and Benn

Term 100% yes that’s also why I understand Benn mainly seeing as he’s 31. But Weber has still been great. Both deals are good-alright now. I think Weber would be less likely to fall (kinda a bold take) than Benn.

I was going for a 20 men formation with bad contracts. I know that there are others but those seem a problem for their team at some point.
