I like the idea a lot, but I believe it's a bit of an overpay. You should either ask for Balcers/Paul or remove the 3rd rounder. But again I like the idea for BOS.

The deal makes no sense for Ottawa. Boston send Vaakanainen and John Moore for 2 years of Brännström and then, even though he's still RFA with no arbitration rights, Ottawa gets NOTHING ELSE if Boston can't sign Brannstrom to a 4 year deal? Those conditions make it an easy and obvious NO.

I don't think it makes sense for either side. I would value Brannstrom higher than a late 1st and Vaakanainen (who i don't really see as more than a bottom pair guy). 3rds come and go, and I don't really view Moore as a valuable piece at all for Ottawa. Ottawa has good prospect depth across the board, and I think they sacrifice too much in terms of high end upside by trading Brannstrom for Vaakanainen and a presumably very late 1st.

From a Boston perspective, I can't see them trading big pieces for an unproven Dman, so even though I think they get the better end of the deal value wise, I think they'd likely decline in favor of targeting a proven NHL dman.

Its an interesting thought, one i havent seen on here. I just think BOS would want to trade for someone with more experience, and as much as i like Brannstrom and his ceiling, hes yet another smallish defensemen. I just think the B's will lean toward someone a little bigger, who has experience, and can eat minutes, rather than a guy who might be a Torey Krug type player (could be better, who knows) down the road, and prone to mistakes in the present particularly on a contending team. Like i said, its an interesting thought for sure.

So BOS signs Brannstrom to a bridge deal and don’t give any picks, during the flat cap where bridge deals will be more common That’s not a condition, that’s how a teenager thinks. Great deal, really pulled the wool over Ottawa’s eyes, getting a much better prospect, dumping Moore, and keeping their picks, genius, sheesh!

Just because no one has addressed it but in the new CBA you can’t have conditions on a player re-signing.

From a neutral fan, I think this a bit low for Brannstrom.
