These are all goalies who have similar career sv% numbers to Korpisalo (.908) and skaters who are around the 20th percentile in terms of impact like him so, not awful but, quite low indeed. Definitely not AHLers but not far from it. Pretty humble collection.
he had a really good year last year, even though he was weak before. i think this post is a "gotcha" towards CBJ fans overvaluing him which is silly because its best to evaluate young goalies at their current state, rather than their past.
i would rather over value him based off a great year than be one of those morons boasting about how he only "had one good playoffs"
He's been kinda inconsistent like young goalies are but seemed to put it all together this season. He's on a good contract but he was lights out in the playoffs of course people value him more because of what they saw last.
Korpisalo's past isn't that praiseworthy, but there's no denying that he made a step up last year and as a relatively young goalie he should be evaluated with that, not his past performance as a clear 2G behind Bobrovsky that didn't get much trust from anyone. The situation is completely different now.
I think it's hard to evaluate Korpi because Elvis is the guy.
Elvis doesn't get hurt...... He finishes the playoffs for CBJ.
So it's hard to really say where Korpi is. He was a placeholder this year and I think most people knew that. There are posts from several of us last year on this board saying Elvis was the real deal. And he proved that last year.
