I do know about hockey. Nylander rides Matthews or Tavares' wing . Laine hasnt had a consistent centre hes been playing next to and Laine is the bigger name

You must not watch hockey the right way then. Laine scores goals. That's it. Nylander scores (can shoot and play a net front presence), sets up guys, can drive a line himself (look at his analytics plus he quarterbacked the Leafs 2nd PP for the longest time), is on a far better contract, can actually play some defence, and is far more versatile than Laine (Nylander can play any forward position)... so Laine was drafted higher than Nylander and is a "bigger name" (highly debatable)... how is Laine in any way better than Nylander?

Jets decline. Kind of pointless to move an elite talent for another top line winger. We already have 3 lol. We don’t need a 4th. The jets need to find a way to keep laine.

Laine would be a 40 goal scorer yearly if he was playing with a consistent 2C. So youre telling me you wouldnt like Ovechkin on your team?

Ehlers-Perfetti-Nylander would be a really good 2 way 2nd line . Or even:

Ehlers-perfetti-laine would be even better. The jets aren’t making a move that is lateral at best. If we can get a top pairing rd for him, now the that’s a talking point.

Nylander wasn’t a complete player at 22 either, and Laine's passing and defence got a lot better this year. He’s trending toward a more well rounded game, and he’s still a guarantee for 30 goals a year. Maybe right not Nylander > Laine but value-wise Laine >>> Nylander

He had more assists than goals for the first time last year. Also isn’t scoring goals kind of important? I’d happily pay Laine 9M a year if that’s what it takes to have a perennial 40 goal scorer on my team
