Don should be on the hot seat

Description
this team is not good enough to win a Stanley cup which is evident from this season and last season losing to both teams that took home the cup, and Don is sitting on his thumbs letting every team in the Atlantic get better while we lose krug and sign Craig smith, thats not enough.

Don thinks he can sit there and just make these little depth player moves and not go out and get what this team needs. Don has no balls, he's a coward get this clown outta here, Neely should get rid of this clown and get someone who's actually gonna make the moves that make this team better.

imagine where this team would be if we actually had any sort of competence in drafting or making good trades. heres some moves that sweeney has screwed this team with.

The trade: RFA-to-be Dougie Hamilton’s rights to Flames for Calgary’s first-round pick (No. 15 overall; Zach Senyshyn), Calgary’s second-round pick (No. 45; Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson) and Washington’s second-round pick (No. 52; Jeremy Lauzon)- Lauzon is essentially the only player whos even played an nhl game from Hamilton who was in the Norris conversation this year.

The trade: Zac Rinaldo to Bruins for Boston’s 2017 third-round pick- makes me want to puke

The trade: Reilly Smith and Marc Savard to Florida for the rights to RFA Jimmy Hayes- WTF

The trade: 2016 fourth-round pick (No. 105; Evan Cormier) and 2017 second-round pick to Devils for Lee Stempniak- Stempniak wasnt even worth a 4th

The trade : Heinen for nick Ritchie - Ritchie shouldn't even make the roster next year

not to mention the bruins drafted Debrusk zboril and Senyshyn while Barzal, kyle conner, Chabot, Boeser, Konecny , Beauvillier and Aho were still on the board

The bruins were in game 7 of the cup final last year and the only thing sweeney did to make the team better was to get both the Ritchie brothers who are BUMS and trade for Kase who barely even looked like a top 6 player while on the bruins.

Fire Don Sweeney or this team is gonna be in mediocracy until the entire core group is too old and this team will fall apart. the people who defend Sweeney are the people who are okay with losing in playoff every year because thats how Don has built this team, to lose in the playoffs every year.

He’s led the Bruins to playoffs for years... he should not be on the hot seat just because you missed out on big FA’s

if you plan on evaluating Sweeney's moves, talk about every move, not just the bad ones. Every GM makes bad and good moves.

I kinda disagree with you analysis of the Bruins. Bruins have been successful on the ice and should be in the future due to probably their ability to manage the salary cap.
No reason why the Bruins shouldn't be co favourites in the East next season. Tampa isn't going to be as good with players leaving due to their cap issues and so many NTCs.,

yes and lost in the playoffs the last two years to the cup champion and now Don has done nothing to make this team better, this core group has only a couple more shots.
Don needs to go out and get the pieces this team needs while this core group is still together.

yes we are, but the bruins are my favorite team and i've seen them lose 2 cups this team should have won more than one cup since 2011 this team has underachieved

fair enough but what i'm evaluating now is the moves he's not making every team in the Atlantic has gotten better and the Don is doing nothing

this team has been successful but they have under achieved, they were cup favorites last 2 seasons and lost, Bergy, Marchand , krejci and chara are only getting older the window is closing on this core group

I am frustrated and skeptical just as much as the next guy, but him being on the "hot seat" is a bit ridiculous.

Hamilton trade was fine. He wanted out, did not fit in with team. Had they picked anyone but Senyshyn we would not be having this conversation.

Smith trade was fine. It was a cap move to get Savard off the books. At the time Hayes was only a slight step down from Smith and cheaper. Hayes just floundered.

The drafting....can’t defend him. Whenever he goes off book, and it’s been way to much with early picks, it fails.

Let’s let the rest of the offseason play out before we skewer him for this year.

Don't get me wrong he's not on the hot seat he's made this team good enough to keep his job for a while, i'm saying he should be because I don't think he will ever make the big moves that put this team over the top to win the cup. Don is okay with making little depth moves for third line players and losing in the playoff every year to the teams that went out and made the moves to make their team the cup favorite like Tampa did, and they whooped us in that series.

I mean what moves are left to make? Hoffman? Dadonov? whos left for LD?
Day 5 of free agency and all we have done is let krug walk sign a 3rd liner and then Vancouver gets Nate Schmitt for a 3rd!! how are the bruins not all over that?

Honestly, they should not have won more cups. They have not underachieved. Your expectations are unrealistic. They have been a solid playoff caliber team. But i have never seen them as cup favorites. They were fortunate to be in the finals 2 years ago not having to play Bolts or Caps and Blues were the better team.

They were never going to fix LD through free agency. Was nobody there to help. They can’t afford another wing unless they move Debrusk.

Schmidt was a terrible fit. He’s a left shot but plays right side and plays soft. Not what they needed. Contract sucks too.

Relax, long ways to go still.

kind of disingenuous to call Smith a "3rd liner" considering he's a consistent 20+ goal scorer

Blues were not the better team going into that series. They out played the bruins and pushed them around. the bruins were more talented but couldn't put it together and Blues were a bad matchup because they played very good defense and played very physical but the bruins should have won that series.

Smith will play on the third line right side with coyle, if he's playing on the third line he's a third liner.

Agree to disagree. Blues were much deeper, and better built for playoff hockey.

Binnington and a bad call stole that series despite Bruins being outplayed.

By that logic the reigning MVP is a second liner. 🙄

DeBrusk played on the 2nd and 3rd line last year....which is he?
Bjork played on the 1st line his rookie season...is he a first liner?
How about Ritchie who came to Boston as was playing on the 2nd line, is he a 2nd liner?

I know it's not over but seriously what moves are gonna make this roster a cup contender look at the Avs and Vegas and tell me bruins could compete with them plus look at what Toronto and the Habs did this offseason both those teams are no joke this year.

Sergachev or Dunn to an offer sheet would be a good start.

Trade Debrusk+ for Hanifin sign a wing to replace Debrusk another.

They were never fixing this team through unrestricted free agency.

If debrusk can't put up consistent numbers playing with Krejci who is a model of consistency he should be a 3rd liner
Bjork played 30 games his first season
and both Ritchies shouldn't even make this roster this year which again backs my point that, that trade for nick was awful and so was the signing of brett

WTF did Toronto do lol. There biggest add was Brodie.

Vesey is a scrub that no one wanted
Simmonds is past barley hanging onto a career at this point
BOGO was carried by his d-partner in the playoffs last year

Toronto did a whole lot of nothing and isn't any better than they were.

Montreal? They added a guy coming off major injury who was awful last year, traded one of their better producers and then signed a 3rd liners in Toffoli. Another team that just made a lot of moves, but nothing to be worried about.
