Colorado is scary talented, I'd waive to go there if I'm a OEL. Only thing is they have Byram in the system and while he's not a guaranteed star player, it sure looks like he could be so it doesn't make the most sense from Colorado's perspective.

If Byram is still a year away, as I believe that he is, then this makes sense. But it would certainly create a problem next summer for the expansion draft.

You could fix that by including Byram in the package going to Zona. Maybe it becomes Byram for OEL+

OEL is so overrated. COL doesn’t take on that contract at all. They could just get a little creative and have Pietrangelo who is better.

To be honest if I'm Colorado I'd rather have Byram. If he's as good as I think he will be then they'll have a star defenseman on an ELC which is one of the most valuable assets in hockey. Plus Colorado will have to pay MacKinnon nearly double what he makes now very soon.
