I don't think I would pay a first for Poehling. Maybe a 2nd, if that

DW has made it very clear that we aren't planning on using our 2020 draft picks in trades. especially our top 3 picks

Goodrow and Coleman got firsts and they are regular nhlers/ valuable, cheap, hardworking, and aggressive players.

He was a 1st round pick and he’s more NHL ready than the guy they will draft at 31 OA. MTL just don’t have the room for him to play C, might turn him into a LW power forward

He’s cheap, aggressive, as seize, but have more potential than Goodrow and Coleman brought technically 2 first

This won’t happen but you’ll see he’s pretty good. I personally would trade Danault so Ryan can play 3C, but having a line of center at 21 Suzuki 20 Kotkaniemi Poehling 21 Evans 23 is too young

I don't mind Poehling, but...

A) He's a big risk for the Sharks and we already have quite a few prospects similar to him in ceiling
B) He's not nearly worth a 1st rounder at this point

The dude had more points in one game last year than he did in 27 games this year. That's just not impressive. 13P in 36 AHL GP is pretty lackluster as well. The Canadians yanked him out of the NCAA too soon imo. We'll give you like Max Letunov and a 5th rounder at most for the guy, but that's about as much as I'd offer if I'm the Sharks.

Playing with Thompson and Weal suck lol but I understand, I’ll delete my post. But I think a team trading for him ( like MTL did with Danault ) will be highly rewarded

No you don't have to delete your post lol, Poehling is intriguing, but like I said, it's a big risk for the Sharks, and he hasn't really shown that he's worth the value suggested.

Deployment has everything to do with that. I heard that he has some maturity issues as well. Much like a certain Sharks player with the same issues that worked out for them and is a now a stud power forward.
Poehling has a lot of potential. He's 20 something 1st round pick that is still developing. Personally, I feel its damn good value each way. I'm more curious what Poehling could do with better deployment, I'd like to keep him especially with 4 picks these top 2 rounds. But I see what Gm is doing here. The off ice issues with Poehling and opportunity may mean he would be better off elsewhere.

Can we please have something happen?! These last 4 days have had very little! I heard Steve Dangle say he expected at least 1 blockbuster trade 12 hours after the Cup was awarded. LoL

We got trolled again by the media, hard!

I know you think Poehling is some god because he was drafted 25th 3 years ago... But he is absolutely not worth anything close to that. SJ declines every single day.

Its a good discussion because I have absolutely no idea how other fan bases see Ryan. I figured it was low value but gosh lol. I'll just chalk it up to trading Ryan at a bad time

I get what you're saying but this is a situation where MTL has to cut their losses into accepting that he's not worth a 1st anymore (just as SJ had to do with Mueller and probably has to do with Gambrell as a 2nd, although it might be one more season too early for that just yet).

Worth a shot if it's Gamby or a 3rd going back the other way if you ask me, nothing more.

That's a very hard thing to do. I remember the Yakupov situation.
Of course, apples and oranges but at a certain time, Yaks was being dangled for a top pick. Now, we have the Pool Party situation. Oilers fans haven't moved off the fact he's a top 4 pick that hasn't been able to keep pace in the Nhl just yet. His Liiga stats are impressive but it's not even close to the AHL or KHL in talent. We've seen players dominate those leagues without much fan fare and never make it to the show with success.

Its a tough one to accept but at a certain point you need to make tough decisions; The kid is 21 and under team control for another 4 or so years so it's not due or die but they need to give him some rope to perform here.

All good if we can’t get a pick around 28-34 we will just keep him, he’ll play in MtL and Laval half an half all season long, not a big deal

I agree, MTL should just give him some more time and hang on to him for the time being. His value's not the best at the moment but that can easily change back to his draft position value 10 games into the new season if he shows a good outing. But no team will offer him more than a 2nd at most at the moment.
