Hagelin was on a 30 point pace this year and led the Caps' forwards in SHTOI. Their PK% was 6th. Having guys like Hagelin, Panik, and Eller who kill penalties and generate offense is why the Caps won their division. I know there's more to hockey than scoring points and playing defense, but sometimes I forget just what.

Pass on the DET trade. Don’t need more aging bottom six players and moving from 4th to 3rd rounder isn’t enough incentive to take them.

AA on WAS would be interesting. However If EDM isn’t giving him his Qualifying offer at 3M, then I don’t see teams giving him more than that.

What quest? The guy got as many even strength points as Duchene and Giroux, at half the cap hit, playing on a checking line. And he's on PK1. And he scored the Cup-winning goal in 2018.

I'm just arguing that they should not shop him, under a flat cap, because there might not be a better player they can get for 3.5M. If they did want to shop him, I agree with your point that Nashville has too many centers, and should start trading some away, rather than adding more. It was only the "he's not worth that," that I thought was uninformed.

I get that he's coming off a career best season, but that was the price for Eller four years ago. He's 31 now, and I don't see anyone giving up picks that good for him. Pittsburgh's been making more questionable trades than this though, so I could be wrong.

I ask honestly unimpressed with him when he’s was on the Habs. Y’all keep saying that he can play 2C, he can play 2C. Yeah, he can play 2C. Not on a good team, though, which is why he’s 3C in Washington

Have you watched him play at all for us in the last couple years? He's learned a lot from Kuznetsov it seems, his puck carrying ability is waaay better than it was when he first got here, and he's become more involved in offensive plays. The reason everyone is saying he can play 2C is because when either Backstrom or Kuznetsov is injured, throughout his tenure with the Caps, he's about a point per game player while playing on the 2nd line. I mean look at his point totals from the 18' cup run, 18 points in 24 games, playing 2C when Backstrom was injured in the second round against the pens. So he can easily and successfully play 2C on a good caps team that went on to win a cup.

Blues don't need a goalie they pass. And Ellers is good but he is no where near the 37th or 42nd pick in this years draft yet alone both.
