I think those are wins for Car, STL. Obviously they don't want to trade away the guys they're giving up, but the value should be tough to pass up.

Carolina says no. A pending UFA goalie who spurned them before, a prospect with 7 NHL games 3 years after being drafted, a decent middle 6 winger who is overpaid and what will be a very late future 1st doesn't get you Pesce.

That's a lot of stuff for Pesce. It's definitely a haul and 1st rd pick and Anderson would get their attention. But I don't think Canes are a better team if they made this trade. This feels like something a rebuilding team might do.

IF Pesce were available, I think Canes would be looking for a top-6 scoring forward in a player-player swap. Something like Pesce-Nylander makes more sense to me, but I don't think Leafs go for that.

Everybody was crapping on him last year when the points weren’t there and when he was “greedy” on his contract. Now his contract looks amazing and he’s a top 15 RW in the league and is worth more than Pesce. Top pair RHD > Top pair RW all day long

Foolish talk. Leafs did not "let him walk". He was a UFA....it' was Gardiner choice. Think reasonable, the Leafs were 6m over the cap, they had to pay Carolina a first rounder to take Marleau, there was no cap for Gardiner.
Don't know how you expect to sign Hyman and Laughlin next the following season. There is no cap available if they are others. expect raises in a 81.5m cap.
I don't have any idea why the Canes are interested in Andersen unless they would trade one of their goalies returned in a trade. It a CapFriendly fantasy that Carolina is a trading partner.
Your roster posted. Yep better on defence, but iffy at forwards, depending on many 1m players to perform in bigger roles. And certainly hurting the Leafs future with Liljegren, two firsts and a second traded away.
