Description
Couple questions that may come up.

Why would LA make this deal considering they just signed Walker for 4 years?

Dermott is a Leftie and the Kings don't have a ton of well rounded left handed D, while they have Roy + Doughty to cover the 1/2 on the Right Hand Side. I think that Dermott would slot into the Left hand side with Roy on the right side pretty easily. Upgraded the conditional pick that the Leafs gave if they were to resign Clifford, based on the slight skill difference between Dermott and Walker.

Why does Minnesota want Rodrigues?

Depth piece for the Wild. Cheap acquisition cost. Can play C or Wing, but I think his position on CF is that of a Center. Could be a decent 4th line C, considering the Wild's C depth this year will likely be Staal/Kunin/Bjugstad/Unknown.

Brodie won't sign for that long/little!

Potentially. Kinda hoping for two things, wants to play at home, and takes a 500K-1M discount to do so, and also takes the cut to make the team competitive in the flat cap era.

Why does Calgary want Johnsson?

Upgrade to the 3rd line over Lucic. Lucic can play with Ryan on the 4th line and be a grittier line. The move allows the 3rd line to become a little more offensive, and considering the Flames have 17M at their disposal, this shouldn't break the bank for a player that can play 2-3LW (depending on Magiapane)

Holl won't get a 3rd!
You're probably right, but a guy can hope.

Why keep Freddie?
Freddie wasn't the problem in the playoffs. Lack of drive was the major factor that led to the Leafs demise. Might move Freddie at the TDL for another goalie depending on how he plays throughout the season, or we keep him until the end and sadly let him walk and worry about a goalie next offseason.

Wild pass.

You are forgetting Ek for Minnesota centers. Minnesota has the enough bottom 6 centers. They currently have 3. They need top 6 Cs. Also they are stacked on LW so Rodrigues is useless to them.

Wild have no need to for a depth guy like Rodrigues. Not a lot of teams will show much interest in him. Send him to the Marlies and pray you never need to rely on him.
P.S. current Wild center depth chart is Staal - Erickson Ek - Bjugstad - Sturm

The Wild don't actually have any need for Rodrigues. About 5 deep, even if they aren't exactly what'd you call an overly talented group.

I'd just make it an "anywhere" type of deal.

Kings would rather have Walker than Dermott, besides trading someone you just signed to a team-friendly contract sends a bad message across to other RFAs and FAs.

UFA rights are useless. Giving away the Leafs best RHD Holl for nothing is foolish. Maroon finds a better offer closer to home. If you really think Bogosian is top 6....he gets more 1m

Tkachuk plays on the RW on the second line with Magiapane. So upgrade on Lucic smile

Appreciate it. Honestly forgot about JEEK and how could I forget Nico. Paid an arm and a leg in the GM Game for him.

Could be Matt Roy as well. I feel like the Kings would want another Leftie to bridge the gap for Clague, Considering Hutton was your #1 LHD

I actually consider Roy more valuable than Walker as far as upside. Just not going to be happy with Blake if he moves prospects who have been doing exactly what we ask out of them and willing to sign cheap team friendly deals for guys who are about the same but less willing to sign team friendly deals.

that's fair. I'd assume Dermott will get a comparable contract to Walker, potentially less because of the fact he played a min less, and had a few less points. Maybe something like 2.25 X 3 (which would price him out of Toronto imo)
