Make that 2nd a lower pick if the Ducks are taking Hutton as well, probably even without Hutton. Millers value has gone down since BUF traded for him

OldNYIfan was okay with it? I think anything less we'd just keep him and try to rise his value

Which at that point is fair, I just dont see how Miller helps the Ducks more than a possible early second at this point. And I see Hutton as a cap dump personally, Anthony Stolarz was great in the AHL and is making league min, cant see him being bad enough to justify Hutton, worst case we go sign Domingue/Brossoit or whoever for half of Huttons AAV

Gotcha. Would you do it without Hutton?

If he is moved it will have to be for futures as they cannot take on a penny in cap.

Maybe he isnt available, but if he is, this would be an excellent return

I would say no right now, I'm a big fan of Miller but I would hold off on ANA and see if they add anything else in trade or FA. This is a big off-season for ANA as they could fully commit to a rebuild. If they do I would 100% be against trading that much for Miller, though I definitely see at least one team being willing to pay that price

I would. Hutton is pretty rotten, and would just suck away the last bit of cap space on the team. I'm quite content rolling with Gibby and Stolarz to start the season.

I don't think there's going to be a full commitment at any point that Gibby is on the team. Add a piece or two, see where you're at when you get to the deadline. I don't see Murray doing anything earth shattering. Plus, that draft is terrifying.

I feel like thats the only think they'd want for him. What are you thinking ? They cant afford a star D-Man, unless they shed alot of a salary. But Cirelli is due for a huge pay day

It would be a good return, but that doesnt make him any more available. Sergachev can get almost an identical return and is more available due to defense being harder to protect in expansion. Tampa is in a "win now" mentality so selling the young core pieces for scratch tickets os counterintuitive.

Cirelli paced ~19 goals and 53 points this year. Last year Point had 41g, 92p and got 6.75M x 3yr. Point is the better 2-way player as well in both this year and last. I cant imagine a difference in 40 points demands anything less than a 2M difference in pay. So anything over 4.75M is a massive overpayment.

As for Sergachev, he doesn't have a lot of ground to bargain. He's not better than McAvoy or Werenski so he shouldn't get more than 4.9M. My guess is a similar number to Klingberg in Dallas.

Unless they wanna provide a home town discount they are both going to get more. They both should be offer sheeted if thats the case. Cirelli is young and getting better each year, As a BUF fan, I'd offer a 1st and 4th or offer sheet him 5 years at 5.5 a year.

Sergachev I feel will get similar if not more.

You make perfect sense, coming from a TB fan. Serg has grown considerably. He is not McAvoy but has the chance of being better than him in 2 years. I watched Hedman grow up and if you compare the 2 at the same period time Serge is better (but he is on a much better team) . I am not saying he will be better than Hedman, almost impossible just he can grow considerably. Cirelli is great defensively but he needs to finish scoring better. Most of his goals comes from just driving the net. I would not hand him a 6 million dollar contract this year.

I still think a 2021 second for Colin Miller is a reasonable idea. I think that every incremental step we can take towards getting better is positive, even if it means getting the 10th or 15th or 20th pick next year instead of the 5th.

As my esteemed colleagues have established, Hutton is not merely unnecessary but actively unwanted.

Agreed, if Tampa even entertained the idea of trading Cirelli, then it would have to be for a good, nhl ready etc type. Tampa, as you said, is in “win now” mentality and just traded the equivalent of 3 1st round picks for added depth. They aren’t looking to move the young core for lottery tickets. Most on here don’t seem to get that though. I think Cirelli comes in around 4 and Serg no more than 4.5. Neither player seems interested in leaving and have already indicated they are open to working with the team on the contract. Unless Tampa is blown away by an offer for one of them, they are staying. From Buffalo, the offer would likely have to start with Jokiharju or Cozens for Tampa to seriously consider it.

Pretty much zero chance Cirelli would sign an OS to Buffalo, and at 5 years, 5.5, Tampa quickly matches. Tampa rfas have a history of taking less than some others to keep the team together, not to mention the location, great organization and yes, the tax advantages that are available in Tampa. Serg will come in around 4.5(He’s definitely not getting more than McAvoy or Werenski, and with the flat cap and Tampa guys taking less...) and Cirelli around 4 or just above. Tampa doesn’t massively overpayguys right off an elc, it’s not how their organization works. If either Serg or Cirelli only care about max dollars right now and want to take a very inflated OS to go play for a non contender, that’s their choice, but it seems far more likely that they will stay with a top 3-5 contender while still getting a sizable raise. They’ll bet on themselves only getting better in that time and then getting a very good 8 year deal after the bridge, which based on their play now, seems likely. Both guys and their agents know how Tampa handles their contracts, and nothing from either seems to indicate they will be the first to rock the boat.

That being said, Tampa isn’t trading him for the 8th pick, who may help Tampa 3 years from now(2 being generous). Tampa is in a balancing act where they are definitely looking to “win now” while not shredding the future core in the process. Players like Cirelli and Serg are part of that core so moving them is going to require an offer that really wows Brisebois. The 8th pick isn’t it. If Buffalo really wants Cirelli, the offer needs to start with either Jokiharju or Cozens to keep Brisebois interested.
