This conversion would never get started. Laine is a fine player, but WPG should be realistic...WPG is not going to get 4 high quality assets for 1 star.

Fair price for Laine is the following ballpark.

Well they can afford to not be realistic, they don't have to move him even with his new contract next year. Unless a team were to come and blow them away with the offer. It might even take one of your later 1st round picks as well. If not they would just keep him, unless they are getting a top 6 center and top 4 RHD plus futures they won't do it. Nothing Jersey has is close to a 1-1 other then Hischier so it will be quantity over quality.

I was trying to include what I understood to be WPG needs... 2c, d-man, futures...while keeping values realistic. WPG isn't getting 95% of the trades we have seen on here.

Think MTL and AZ are your best options.

how would you feel about Zacha + Severson (50% retained) + AZ 1st + VAN 1st + a later pick or prospect? I realize Zacha is more of a 3rd line C but still skilled and young enough to grow into a 2nd liner, Severson is a bonafide top 4 RHD with term at a good age and incredible value at just $2M, on top of that some high picks in a great draft and maybe an additional prospect.

It would probably still be a no, Severson is a value as is without retention. You'd have to add one of those three prospects +. Still getting the best player in the trade. I don't see the Jets trading him though.
