this is why you cant boxscore scout, we dont know the context of that year or how they were playing bellows. Maybe it was bad...maybe it was situational and limited minutes as a 20 year old...no clue
Just look internally with Martin Kaut, looking his stats you wouldnt know that the Eagles didnt play him on the PP or that he was getting middle 6 minutes as they played AHL vets on the top line.
Or the KHL, you cant look at that league young players and see oh 7 points in 49 games, tough when they will dress guys and not even play them counting as a game played.

Context is key and we have no clue what was going on with that season. I just am saying on the surface the goal scoring is intersted but his skating is what would make me pause

Bellows hovering between a weak 2nd liner and a good 3rd liner.

Exactly what Jost already is.

I actually never knew that about the KHL, what a fun fact

KHL is notorious for that, unless you watch the games of the prospects you have no clue how they actually are progressing.
There have been games that some younger guys got 7 seconds of ice time, thats it. On there for faceoff and right off. Its not a development league so its rare for young 18-19 year olds to get meaningful minutes there.

It also doesn't help that not all AHL teams operate as development teams for their organizations. Teams, such as the Eagles, are being run to win games and make profits first, and to develop players second.

I think the value is there, the logic behind it might not but avs are weak on natural wingers...if they were making a roster spot for the future sure maybe you can understand this type of move. As we knwo they are tryign to win now and Jost helps that more than waiting for Bellows.

I just wouldnt be shocked at this type of move...simliar to Josh Anderson in Columbus, wouldnt be shocked at Jost being moved for that type of move either. I think compher is the odd man out in a couple years bc they are keeping jost but its not a lopsided bad trade idea.

100%, not all ahl teams are created equally for development, like the Eagles who need to be competitive and win now to make sure the fan base will grow naturally with the product and wont be against paying the higher ticket prices for AHL hockey as right now they are still freezing tickets to be similar to ECHL price point.

Jost would b a very weak 2nd liner. At this point Bellows ceiling is higher but his floor is lower. That’s the risk the trade comes w for both teams. Isles know what they’re getting w jost, while Bellows is more of an unknown, but could end up being the better player
