Description
Point, Stamkos, Johnson, Coleman, Stephens, Goodrow, we are stacked at center. Cirelli can be moved for a good cost controlled forward.

Gourde is back and I think he will have an outstanding playoff run. Same for Tyler so one of the two will be moved.

I was working on a post that included Wahlstrom and Wilde for Cirelli. Would that make any sense? The idea of the post was to shift Barzal to wing.

Possible, what is the upside for Wilde? Looks like he took a step back.

No step back, he just had a nagging ankle injury (believe high sprain) before training camp. Wilde actually played in the AHL at 19 rather than Juniors. Went down late in the season to help Saginaw when Bridgeport was out of it. Coaches praised Wilde's willingness to learn and a good teammate. Think he still very much has Top 4D upside. But with Pulock/Dobson already at the NHL level (Mayfield too - just less of a name) Wilde *could* be expendable in the right trade.

I don't like the idea of giving up the COL 1st in a Killorn trade. I'd rather just give up a 2nd + 3rd/4th for him instead of trading down out of the 1st round

Then TBB would consider. Our prospect list is short. Our core is still 30 or younger so have a couple of years before we need new talent.

Killorn had a great year so that needs to be minimized. Over the last 5 years he has produced 40 plus points, a power forward, plays in all situations, strong defensively, has missed less then 2 games a year and became a strong voice in the locker room. His contract is very reasonable and he usually steps up his game come playoffs. I think there is a buyer for that offer but you are entitled to your opinion. There are many vultures on this site that think TB is in cap hell and will be taken advantage, this post shows they have options.

2 COL fans commented no but I disagree.

If I’m COL, I accept moving my late 1st to a late 2nd to add Kilhorn to their top 6F

Make me the 3rd who disagrees.

I think we can get him for a 2nd + 3rd sort of package, or for Jost, and save our 1st. Whoever we pick with that 1st round pick is going to be an important part of managing the cap from 2023 onwards on an ELC.

People are massively over valuing late 1st (picks 25-31).
I’m not worried about 2023 cap situation, I’m worried about 2021 cup situation. For moving back 30 draft spots to add a top 6F now, I’m in

If you're moving back in a weak draft class like 2021, sure. But in a deep draft like 2020 the difference between a late 1st and a late 2nd is huge.

FYI, Mark Edwards at HockeyProspects.com and the author of the Black Book scouting guide says there's 27 "A" grade prospects in this draft, which is really high. That makes a late 1st equivalent to a mid 1st in many draft years.

I still don’t buy into it though.
I can get behind a strong draft class, but to say there’s 27 A prospects, is a stretch.

2003 is known to be the best draft class of all time.
30 teams made 30 picks. Only 2 played less than 20 NHL games (ie. there were 28 “A” prospects). You really think this class is that caliber? Doubt it

TB took Drouin at #3, did not work out well. Killorn is good for the next 3 years minimum. If you want to improve now do the trade. If you are looking 2-3 years down the road do not do it. TB gave up first for Coleman and a good prospect, Canucks traded a first for Miller...

I'm not a scout. I'm just relaying what a reputable scout has said.

Whether you call it "A" grade or whatever, the point is that it's a deep draft.
