Now, McDavid and Draisaitl, as good as they are, can't do the entire work alone. I think RNH/KY are great 3rd-4th offensive options, I really do but besides that, what do they have? 5,75 mil PP specialist Neal? 4th liner Haas, Sheahan(if they bring him back), Nygard and Khaira? Middle six Kassian? Unproven Benson? 3rd liner Ennis (who I would 100% bring back btw, I'm 100% sure he's taking a hometown discount to stay in EDM? Dark horses Mcloed/Marody? I think you're starting to get it. They REALLY need more offensive depth! They especially need a 3C. Khaira, Haas, Ennis (who really shouldn't play C) can't do it. They player i'd target is Carl Soderberg. He's scored 15 goals 3 years in a row now, including a 23 goal, 49 pts season in 18-19. Basically, IMO, he's a money in the bank 15-17 goals, 35 pts guy season in season out.
Now, with CS as 3C and RS as 4C, I'd 100% trust their C depth unlike now.
Koskinen (badly) needs help. He can't play 50+ games. Greiss would be an amazing fit in EDM IMO. Or, move Koskinen, sign Lehner and resign Smith to a cheap 1 mil or less one year deal. Here I'll get Greiss as a 1A/1B to help Koskinen.
Most deals are fine but Ennis and Soderberg could both get more. No Kasssian on the top line. Archibald is good but as a 4th liner so they should try to get another middle-six option.
Maybe they could move one of young D to get that winger. Just not sure which one.
It's up to Holland; hopefully he doesn't screw it up with Abdelkader/Nielsen/DeKeyser/Ericsson/Helm type contracts.
We could also talk about how Matthews has played in playoffs elimination games'
Matthews
5 GP
1 G, 1 A, 15 SOG (6.67%)
TOI 87:00 (ATOI of 17:24)
Draisaitl
3 GP
4 G, 2 A, 5 SOG (80.0%), 1 GWG,
TOI 54:45 (ATOI of 18:15)
And don't try to convince me that 34 is better than 29; he isn't.
You're literally delusional if you think Matthews isn't better than Draisaitl. It isn't even close lol.
Also your stats aren't even right. I know for a fact that Mats has at least 1 GWG.
As I can see, nothing to answer to the initial reply about elimination games' performances.
And indeed, it's not even close, he isn't better. We'll stop here before you try to convince me Engvall is better than RNH.
Interesting strawman you got there. Draisaitl puts up empty points largely thanks to McDavid feeding him (#1 toi partner). Drai is also one of the worst forwards in the league defensively.
Mats on the other hand can put the team on his back, drive play, play defensively and has stronger impacts in nearly all aspects.
Although I must say I find it cute how people like you just look at points and think Drai is better, which is hilarious as the stats you posted aren't even right (Mats has a GWG for starters).
But hey, keep being a salty Leafs hater. I'm cool with Mats being underrated

Maybe Mats can prove he is elite and do it back to back, he hasn't proved it in an Elimination game until yesterday when the Toronto guys went off. Draisaitl isn't better than Mats in skills right now, but he sure as hell plays smarter right now. Draisaitl will never have the physical skating talent of Matthews but he's smarter ik that much.

I mean, you're wrong but measuring a players hockey IQ is incredibly subjective and prone to personal biases so I won't bother to fight you on it.

Ok, let's call it Vision when on the ice not hockey IQ. You can't say Draisaitl has better teamates or linemates or skills than Mats. But you can say that his vision for shooting lanes/passing lanes/and guessing the defenses moves is elite, maybe the best in the game. Mats will gain it I think, but he's 2 years younger.

You don't watch a lot of Leafs games do you? Mats is a very underrated playmaker and has some of the best vision in the game. Most of last nights goals are a direct result of a beauty Mats feed for example.

Like here is a really good example. There is a better angle that shows how utterly insane it was but I can't find it right now.

I do. I love mats, and...I didn't say he isn't great, cause he is...I'ma leave this argument though. I like to have decent conversations and "purposeful disagreements" with people on here who actually read and respond to my full awnsers and statements. I did to yours.

As If I hadn't responded to yours lol.
You literally say his vision is something he might develop, I counter he already has and give an example. Exactly what part of this is giving you the impression that this is in bad faith lol?
I think Matthews, but it is subjective and based a lot on pre conceived notions about players. Mats being an elite goal scorer (more so than Drai) hurts his standing in that regard.
I am literally just repeating myself at this point. It would be nice if mister 'I like to have decent conversations and purposeful disagreements' would actually read what is being said but what do I know.

In the playoffs this year, Draisaitl has the higher GF/60, xGF/60, xGA/60, CA/60, GF%, and xGF%.

He may be a good playmaker, but he's no Draisaitl. Drai led the league in assists this year, with 67 assists in 71 games. In comparison, Matthews only had 33 assists in 70 games

We're talking about vision, not raw totals. Sure Drai got more assists but Mats did it just as well. Plus there are plenty of times where he made the play and didn't get credit for points wise.
Additionally Mats is primarily a shooter, so that really hurts his totals aspect. If he leaned on his play making more he could put up a 2018-19 Marner esq season and more with no issues imo.
And I want to be clear, Draisaitl has unreal vision. Mats in in the same stratosphere at least though.
