Robertson will make the team and allow the Leafs to move on from one of their expensive LW'ers (Johnsson, Mikhey or Hyman) but...I don't expect him to become the next Theo Fleury, just another 25-35 goal scoring guy.

Justin Brazeau is 6 foot 6 and 226 pounds and scored 61 goals and 113 points in 68 games in his last year of OHL junior hockey for the North Bay Battalion. The kid grew up in Northern Ontario and did not have access to year round hockey training and is a late bloomer. He has an NHL shot and tremendous offensive abilities and is now working on improving his skating with Barb Underhill and will be playing on the Marlies next year. He lead all rookies with 27 goals and finished second amount rookies with 55 points in 57 games in the EHL on the Newfoundland Growlers.

He has a big heart and is not afraid of putting in the hard work and really wants to make it as a NHL hockey player and he is going to do everything he can to make the it. He has the potential to be an absolute home run for Dubas and the Leafs regardless of your uninformed opinion.

I reiterate... he in an ECHLer lmfao. Get out of here. Your bias opinions run toxic on this site and everyone will agree with that statement. I’ve never seen a single leaf fan even mention this guy. Why? Because he’s not gonna be an NHLer. And if he somehow develops into one, he will be a 4th liner at best.

Another Tyler Biggs or Jeremy Bracco success story in the writing.

I love robby. He’s a great kid and I have some personal ties to him through a mutual friend. I wish nothing for the best with the kid. I’m just saying to temper your expectations.

Robertson has been told his entire life that he is too small to play but he is the real deal. Great story and role model for hockey playing kids.

I’m convinced this guy is a troll. He once tried saying Sandin is the next Lidstrom...

I’m pretty sure this is the alt account for @TMLSage .... they do the same thing. Overblowing everything Toronto Maple Leafs related.

I mean he traded a guy who had 121 points in JRs... and we all know JR points mean he’ll be great in the NHL right.

So you would say the same thing then about Alex Burrows before he made the Canucks.

No, he is different and you need to be listening to fans who watched him closely in the OHL before you write him off.

Over aged players tend to have inflated Jr. stats....so I never consider 20 year old's breakout seasons in the OHL as being a true indicator of their potential.

We dont agree on a lot here but you've hit the nail on the head. Brazeau is kind of known by Leafs fans and definitely could be a bottom 6 guy but nothing more. Every org has guys like him, Leafs just happened to sign him as a UDFA so he gets more hype from some people than a drafted prospect

What if you are wrong and he emerges out of no where like an Alex Burrows and plays on top line. What would he mean to the Leafs if that was to happen in the future? What would you be saying about Dubas then taking a chance on Brazeau?

I traded two undersized NHL prospects who look to be career AHL players.

So the Leafs can trade Kerfoot (or lose him to Seattle) and use SDA, Robertson and Kappy for the 3rd line starting 21-22 season.

It happens, sure, but hyping up a guy like brazeau is just ridiculous. Maybe he does turn into something. But you’re initial comment of “just watch what you’ll be saying about brazeau” is just dumb. How can you hype up ECHL prospects? If your home town bias THAT bad? You’re tired of just overrating your blue chip leafs so you gotta dig that deep into the farm system?

When did I ever say Dubas was making a mistake for signing him? You need to tone it down, I'm a Leafs fan and think Brazzeau can be an NHLer. What if Kapanen turns out to be better than Marner? What if Matthews scores 100 goals? What if Jack Campbell becomes the best goalie in the league? Its easy to say someone can have all this potential but realistically, Dubas and the Leafs would be happy if hes a 700k bottom 6 guy that can play PP2 net front and not be a liability defensively

Don't forget the Pens traded Kapanen and a 1st Rd pick to get Tyler Biggs. Leafs prospects are gold.

Which is a big win I think if he can take over Johnssons spot on an ELC and have a bit more of an offensive upside to his game. He has potential to be a great goal scorer but if he puts up 30 playing 16 minutes a game and can hold his own defensively, Id be thrilled

I deal in facts so here it is for you.

Brazeau was easy choice for the ECHL all rookie team this past season.....His 27 goals last season were tied for fifth most among all ECHL players....... Scored four goals in a Growlers victory in Jacksonville on March 1th........ Tied for second among ECHL scorers with nine power play goals and tied for first with six game winners.

His story of where he came from in Northern Ontario against all odds is incredible and I actually think with Barb Underhill improving his skating like Goat that he is actually going to make the Leafs.

Debrincat is an example, but neither of them will reach the limits of a HOF career like Theo Fleury or Martin St Louis as tiny wingers.

I think your comment kinda proves my point a bit about leveling your expectations.

Nic Petan had 121 points in the WHL and was the leagues best player as an 18 YO, he’s also undersized and hasn’t, and probably won’t, do anything in the NHL.

It’s great to have hope, but you should also have a reasonable expectation for a player.

I think they have potential to be great because of they way the game is going, in 5 years, both could be top wingers in the future

All good points and I applaud Dubas and Leafs for taking the chance on Brazeau because the upside is absolutely huge and think he is going to make it. The Leafs have by far the best development system in the entire NHL.
