Press Release from NYR: In light of recent events, the Rangers organization has decided to remove all phones, fax machines, and internet capabilities from executive offices to avoid discussing a trade with any of the other 30 teams in the NHL for the rest of time. Rangers GM, Jeff Gorton, was quoted as saying, "It's simple: we can't make sense of ever trading any of our players, no matter what assets may come back in return. We will only ever draft players because trading is scary."
C'mon man. Hanifin and Bennett as a package is easily worth: 1st + 2nd + 2nd as a starting point in just picks. And a mid-round 1st in the 2020 draft at that. The trade is certainly in the ballpark.

wow. well this certainly strikes as a mere-exposure effect issue on your part if that's your evaluation.
My issue with the proposal simply is that the valuations you are speculating are not in accordance with reality.
In terms of on-ice play over the past 2 seasons, Hanifin's on-ice value has been slightly above replacement. As an outsider who can trade with anyone, my options in terms of LHD who are 26 and under, have team control and cost less than Hanifin's cap hit are plentiful. Here's a small sample of players who have all had more on-ice value than Hanifin over the past 2 seasons. You'll notice that none of them will require an asking price of a 1st rounder much less your laughable asking price of a mid 2020 1st lol.
Objectively why would I target Hanifin over any of those other players if that's your asking price? To make it worse, all of those players will have less of a cap hit, some of them less than half the cap hit of Hanifin. It's honestly pretty ridiculous.
But the comedy doesn't end there, the ask here wasn't even for picks it was for Nils Lundkvist, you know the guy who just set the U20 SHL scoring record for Dmen. The last time a defensive prospect in his ballpark was dealt, it was for Mark Stone.... this trade is essentially evaluating Mark Stone and Noah Hanifin as equals. Tough to beat that lol.
You are willing to set your asking price wherever you like, but if you want to actually make a deal it'd be wise to move your offer in accordance with actual on-ice value.
