I think at same age Byfield and KK where similare... so why giving on top Caufield and one of Lundell/Holtz for a uncertain 1C... this worth only if its for Laffy 1-OA

That's one hell of a wrong statment. Moving up 7spot is not worth one of the top prospect in the NHL and a 20 year old former 3rd overall pick. Yes he had a really bad second season but he still was one of the younger player to make the NHL and had a very decent season. Vilardi sure looks better but the sample is really small and he's also a year older and Turcotte did not prove anything yet even if he looks like a monster. Even if KK is not a their level (which I don't believe but the argument could be made) he still holds a lot of value and this offer is really bad for MTL. And about the "there's other way to get Caufield" not really. Beside this pick, Turcotte or Vilardi, who you won't trade anyway, there is nothing interesting enough in the entire LA organization to give Caufield for...

No he was around 9 to 12 on most list but he had a really strong international competition close to the draft and went up. Sure he was a reach but that doesn't erase everything I just said. Seider was a reach last year and it does not affect how great he looks right now. Even if KK was a 20th overall pick the offer is still not worth it if you consider his progression and what he already did since being drafted. I don't think the gap between him and Byfield or Stutzle is Caufield and the 9th overall pick in a very strong top10 draft. They sure look good but they are not concession players either.
