My guys... you can’t trade Lehner as a pending UFA, this deal isn’t possible. He’s not an RFA, you can’t include his UFA signing rights in a deal and the trade deadline has already passed...

Why can't they include Lehners UFA signing rights?
Teams have traded picks for UFA's before the signing period to get exclusive negotiations with said UFA, Philly traded a 5th to the Jets for Hayes to be able to negotiate first with him, this is also a 20-21 roster so the TDL having past doesn't matter.

I am thinking OP is suggesting the Devils would sign Lehner to that deal to replace Blackwood.

On second thought I’ll concede. However it would be massively stupid for Lehner to agree. Why wouldn’t he go to open market and get the best dollar and term?

Well the poster has Lehner signing with the Devils for I'm assuming that means $6M×4 or 5 years? (Wish people would make more effort with those details!lol)
which is probably close to what he's looking at though maybe someone offers him $7 or 8M idk but yeah I agree he probably wants to test the market if Vegas doesn't offer him what he wants, also he probably wants to go to a team that looks closer to contending then NJ is, on a whole this is just a weird idea for both teams imo.

I might be in the minority here but I wouldn't. Those picks would be great but I just don't see the point of moving your 23 year old starter that's going to be the #1 guy for a decade +

I guess if they drafted Askarov with the Arizona pick it could be a different story... interesting to think about but I don't think Devils would do it. Blackwood looks real promising

Do you just not know how anything works?

How does trading his rights prevent Lehner from going to the open market? Maybe look into the business side a little so that you can correctly comment on it.

Obviously Lehner can still opt to go to open market, my comment is predicated on the fact that HE SIGNS with NJD in this AGM scenario. NJD wouldn’t trade for his signing rights unless they knew they’d give him the best offer (which this isn’t) and therefore there’s no point in giving up assets to lowball him when he clearly gets more elsewhere. Hence me asking why would he agree to that lowball deal.

Maybe you are more clueless than you come across kiddo

Kiddo, ha...

You posted twice in this AHM and both posts were wrong. Not showing a strained opinion, but flat out wrong. Then you make a mess of back peddling and call me kiddo for pointing out your failures.

Typical cringe response.

My reply made some reference to the AGM and discussion above, yet you come back with some dumb blurb containing zero attempt to continue the discussion at hand or promoting conversation on the hockey topic proposed.

The fact you are sitting here counting responses speaks to the fact that I’m living rent free in your head.

Deep breaths my keyboard warrior. I invite you to provide a reply with some hockey content until then, keep counting

I will admit, I was incorrect in my original post.

You can trade his UFA rights (they would just have like a 2 week window to negotiate a new deal - but he’d hit free agency if they don’t close a deal in that small window).

As far as the perspective from Lehners end, he’s obviously looking to cash in the longest term and highest dollar value and in order to get that, he needs to hit free agency.

I was mainly opposed to the likelihood of this deal as signing Lehner is a BIG portion of this deal making sense and the contract proposed above, is less than he’d get in the open market.

And you poorly decided to go 0 for 4

Your first post was flat out wrong in saying that you can't trade a UFA. 0 for 1
Your second post had two errors in saying "On second thought I’ll concede." because for a second thought you would have had to put thought into it the first time, which you obviously didn't, and then you said "Why wouldn’t he go to open market and get the best dollar and term?" Much like the rest of the trades it's just part of it, he talked to NJ and agreed. 0 for 2
Your third post was just sad back peddling after you were shown to be wrong twice already. Plus, you resorted to name calling as an unnecessary lash out. 0 for 3
Your forth post invites hockey content, but you yourself had not provided ANY valid conversation yet yourself, just literally incorrect information. You then comment on rent free while this back and forth had been over what, two posts and a couple of hours... then you resort to name calling again. 0 for 4

You've resorted to name calling, twice, instead of conversation, who is rent free where?

You are replying to my posts, so does that mean that I am rent free in your head too? WOW!!!

Someone could literally just hit random key and post and it would be a better post that your first few in this AGM... that's what you are mad about. You posted the 100% wrongness and when called out on you you got mad and are trying to save some pride.

Do I hear 6 or are you going to stop digging your hole?
