Description
LMK on trade values.. think I need to add in STL trade.. not sure they'd be interested in giving up Bortuzzo though.. If AP resigns I think they do it.

Obviously the only problem with this roster is the cap space IMO..

Gotta love how you seem to believe Bortuzzo is worth a 2nd rounder and you think Dermott’s value is a 3rd

Remember a few years ago when everybody said « look at the Preds blueline it’s so young » and now people are realizing that their big three at D is now roughly 30

Again, I've noticed on some posts people going bezerk over Johnsson for a 2nd (which I think is decent value) and I see a lot of hate posts regarding Dermotts value.. either way, I think these moves would benefit the leafs, but obviously the values can be fixed.

What do you think? I mean I didn't do too much (which I don't think the leafs need to do), but I think bringing back/in some vets like Patty, Spezz, Bortuzzo & Hainsey would help tremendously

That is how aging works...

After Bortuzzo cheap shots the rest of the league, he'll be the only player left standing, and therefore the most valuable player in the NHL. He's the goon Highlander.

Johnsson for a 2nd is a normal value. 2nd line wingers always go for 2nd rounders or even more. He had injury filled season so just 2nd.. he is that good. Dermott is an interesting one. He has tremendous on-ice results when it comes to overall impact on defense. Anybody playing with him is suddenly better player and that pairing regardless of who he plays with is always more effective with him on it. But he wasnt having good season because of shoulder surgery last summer. He played his best hockey towards the end of the year and his trade value is at least a 2nd rounder although I expect Leafs to keep him and play him with Rielly if no D is signed.

I dont see Leafs doing much so this is pretty realistic from that standpoint. Veterans are always great if they can contribute like Spezza did. Hainsey is washed up and Bortuzzo is 6th/7th D which just adds some vet depth which Leafs dont necessarily need there.. Marleau might sign somewhere else. I dont see him signing with Leafs. Also Leafs very likely re-sign Clifford

Strange how so many think the Leafs Dmen and overall defence is so bad. Nashville and their highly paid and respected defence/Dmen allowed just 8 fewer goals than the Leafs this season.
Don't know why folks think Dermot is the odd man out for the Leafs, Cost efficient, a plus player in the past two seasons, 17 minutes a game.

Don’t forget that he can play the right side as well.

I think Dermott needs the same thing Holl got. A chance to build confidence.

Unless Dermott is part of a package for a clear upgrade on rhd (like pulock or Ellis) I don’t see any benefit in moving him.

I would really like to see him with Rielly or Muzzin next season.

Honestly, to get a "clear upgrade" like Pulock/Ellis (which you guys wouldn't be able to afford) I think any package would start at Dermott+one of the 3M guys ++. Highly doubt a deal is made there with Pulock/Ellis

I don’t really see it happening either. Teams would want a high price and the reward for the leafs would not be worth it.

I’m just saying, if the deal is there and it seems fair then I could see Dermott being moved. Otherwise I would give him a bigger workload next season. Move him into the top four on the right side if Sandin is truly ready.
