BUF fans can already stop with the Domi for Ristolainen stuff. Not only do we dont need another RHD but Domi is worth more than Risto. Try 8th OA so we can draft Sanderson with it.

But if MTL trades Petry than a spot opens up for Risto to be the 2 RHD.

If the habs were somehow on board then duh. Although I don't think it's as bad as a trade as some people are gonna make it out to be.
Probably drop MTL pick and add a prospect it's better.

I like montour and I dont know why everyone is bailing on him. 1 year removed from a B+ nhl ready prospect and a late 1st to trade him for a winger that scored 17 points and a defenseman we already traded away? And on top of that were giving up a 2nd?
That doesn't make any sense to me.

Even if we did Risto isn’t worth Domi period. Domi + Mete/Fleury/2nd for 8th is much more fair than what you proposed, if you want a good center, you have to pay a good picture unless you’re trading with Jason Botteril lol.

Domi is above average nothing special. He’s a 40-50 point center.

Here is the thing though, Montreal and fans would rather resign Petry than trade him the problem is we may need the cap space IF we add a Hall or Hoffmann type of player

Yeah Petry next year is probably our #1 D and yes he is that good. Skates well shoots like Weber and is still great defensively. Search Petry Vs laptop and watch some of those fun videos he has a ton of fun lol

Yeah he’s a good player it should be interesting what they do with him at the trade deadline next season.

I think Sabres would deal 8th for that package. If I were Montreal I would rather just deal.him straight up for 2021 1st with top 10 protection and then keep those other pieces.

Except he's been on a 50+ point pace 4 out of 5 seasons so far in his career. Even this season where nothing went right for him and he was still on a 50 point pace.

Realistically 50 points is the floor with him. It's far more likely he hits closer to 60 than 40 in the future.

*Edit* Also need to add that he's never been under 45 point pace in his career.

That’s nothing special.. Domi is a good player, but Buffalo has a horrible prospect pool they need to get a nice forward with 8th overall this year.

Sure he's not making the HoF but 50-60 point C aren't exactly too common in the NHL and they rightly cost a lot to acquire. Hell Kevin Hayes got a pretty decent pick as a pending UFA who had never up till that point scored at a 50 point pace.

I understand the appeal of the shiny new prospect but the reality is that it's more likely than not that this prospect takes 2 or more seasons to develop. I mean you drafted 8th OA twice in the last 4 years and neither player is better than Domi at this point or really projects to be so. So really it's rolling the dice.

Anyways if you dislike Domi for some reason or other I'll happily agree to disagree on his value but in a vacuum a 50-60 point C entering his prime is worth every bit of the 8th OA imo.

I disagree Marcus Johansson was a half a point per game playing as the 2c in Buffalo it was his first year playing center in 8 seasons. 8th overall will most likely be better than Domi in my opinion. Plus the Peguals want to be under the cap by a significant margin giving another 5.5-6 million probably isn’t in the cards this offseason.

Alright, if they want to cut costs then I understand. However to say that the 8th OA will "most likely" be better than Domi seems a little optimistic to me.

Going from 2003-2017 only 3 player have been or are on pace to be better than Domi. That's 3 out of 15 players (or 13 if we remove Nylander and Mittelstadt since they are still young). That's a 10 in 13 (about 77%) chance of getting anything from a Coburn or Ristolainen (who are fine players but not as good as Domi) to an Alexandre Picard, Scott Glennie or Alex Burmistrov. Compared to a 3 in 13 chance of Couturier, Werenski or William Nylander. That's hardly a certainty.

As for Johansson going at 0.5pts/gm that's good but lower than Domi's ever done in his career and much lower than his first season playing C where he had 72 points. I believe that Domi is a solid 60 point guy with potential for more and I guess that's where we differ.

I think its obvious Domi is worth more right now as a HAB.
He can do better than this last season. On that basis he wont be moved
